Looking for Canadian players

Hello,

I'm a journalist and Perplex City player looking for other Canadians who are into Perplex City. People in Toronto would be best. I'm trying to do a story about the game and having a hard time find people to speak with.

I can be reached at mccaben at cbc.ca

Please get in touch...

Thanks.

Nick

*Former Torontonian timidly raises her hand*

I can't believe there aren't more Canadian players! I mean, I know we're supposedly a nation consisting of three igloos, a dog-sled team, and that guy you know from Canada named Bob, but seriously! I guess the only reason I've heard of PXC is because I'm currently residing here in this civilized land of tea and Doctor Who...but I still hope more players come out of the woodwork! Hopefully the CBC can spread the good word to my fellow Canadians. You know, the CBC shows Doctor Who too, eh?

And by the way, isn't this Meta?

Well it's a shame I haven't been keeping up on PXC. But otherwise yes another T.O. player that was around during the Toronto Cinema thing. However I haven't played much since the london event since I've been trying to keep up with this thing called life.

I've been in contact with Nick and unless plans change, myself and mysteryjones will be meeting up with him on Thursday (tomorrow) around 6-6:30ish.
*EDIT* - We're not sure about the name of the pub, but it's on Bloor Street just east of Bathurst, on the south side before Lee's Palace. (If anyone knows the name of the place please let me know, I'm not all that familiar with that area)

From his email:
Quote:
The focus of the story is on Perplex City so I need to talk to people
who have played it. They don't necessarily need to be playing it at the
moment. As long as they have played it or can tell me about it, the
puzzles, the hunt etc.

So if you're free to come vortex-5, or any other T.O. lurkers, make your way down to the big bad city for a drink with us Smile

I'm not in Canada, nor even near there...but I'd recommend that (if you haven't already tried) you contact Mind Candy to see if they can help out. The email to use is mediaSPLATmindcandydesign.com - I know that they were collating player information from volunteers not long ago, for just these sort of requests from journalists and the media. You might find that they have some Canadian contacts that they can hook you up with Smile

Location's been changed for this evening because the people at the pub were being dicks and didn't want anyone filming.

So if any Canucks are still out there, 6pm at the Great Hall of Union Station. Look for the guy with the camera Smile

So, um, how was the meet?

Sorry for not replying sooner, but I've not actually been able to get online much at all recently. Yes, I'm in Canada (St. John's, Newfoundland). Yes, I'm willing to answer any questions you may have that I can answer. Yes, I can do a phone interview if you really want me to. (Just realise that this would be long distance on a cell phone if you're calling me from Toronto).

Drop an email to bmw1985 at the hotmail.com email server.

Sidenote - I don't sound like an uneducated Newfie, so no worries on that front b'y. Wink

I think the meet went pretty good... and I'm very happy that Evan could make it since he's much better in front of a camera than yours truly Smile

We'll be contacted a couple days before the segment airs, but for those able to see it, it'll be on CBC's The Hour sometime soon! (thanks again Nick and Yassir, it was a pleasure meeting you both)

I was talking to Nick McCabe-Lokos earlier today and he said that it's most likely to air on tomorrows The Hour.

Quote:
'The Hour' airs live, Monday through Thursday, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on CBC Newsworld.

And – because we love you – if you miss it the first time, you can catch it again at 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. ET (8 p.m. and 11 p.m. PT).

Just saw the show ...great job by host George to plug the game! The players being interviewed (or the editing or both) were quite good as well Wink
