Right, here goes my take.

I was watching only the code to the north (right hand side).

This is what I wrote down (before I took the videos):
- .- - . -- -.. -- -
--- .. . .-- .. .- .... -. .
...- . -. --

Which gives
TATEMDMT
OIEWIAHNE
VENM

Some discussion in the pub about numbers got us thinking that the "EVEN" could be part of ELEVEN, and some re-spacing of the second line (and add one more dot) gives
Code:

--- .. . .-- .. .- .. . .-.. (.)
O   I  E W   I  A  I  E L     E

Now a bit more respacing, turn the third I into a T, and we could get
Code:

-- -.. . .- -.. .- - . .-.. .
M  D   E A  D   A  T E L    E

"dead at eleven"??

I also took 3 videos.

The first video was 1min 19s long, taken when we were fairly near the top. It ends with about 20s of nothing, so I am guessing it's the end of the message. I have:
Code:

.--  -- ..- .. -. .
W    M  U   I  N  E

The last E was very faint, it could been a mistake / imposter. And the N could possibly have been an M.

The second video was longest was 3 minutes - it was when we were heading down, at the time a second light briefly joined in - I'm pretty sure the light to the bottom right was our "official" one. I've marked where that was with brackets below.
Code:

.-. .. -. (-...) -- -.-- ..-. .-.. . .-.. ..-. ...-? .. -.-- ---..
R   I  N   B     M  Y    F    L    E L    F    V     I  Y    8

The ? is where I had to move the camera so it might be a dot (making the V an H), or there might have been a space before it (making the V either ST or SE).

The 8 might in fact be - --.. = TZ !

The clearest part on my video was the FLELF - I'm 99% confident that's right, but I don't know what it means!

The third video was short, under a minute, it was very near the end of the trip. I have:
Code:

.- -- . .- ..-.
A  M  E A  F

I'm most confident about that transcription, but it doesn't make sense.

Hmm...

If anyone can suggest a free video hosting site, please let me know. The biggest is 42MB. (I tried uploading to my BT website but it exceeded the file size...)

For anyone who does have a video of their own, it looks like the spacing for timing is 1s (so dot is 1s, dash is 3s, space between dots and dashes is 1s, space between letter is 3s)

Oh and for anyone wondering who I am, I was wearing a green top and leather jacket, and kept wondering over to tally in the pub to compare notes / ideas. And I was on CRT, Cube ReCoventry Team.

Cheers
Nick

I'm liking a lot of that, NickF. good work.

Hmmm... is it possible the "--/ -" (MT) are ".-./ -." (RN)? Because that would imply Tate Modern...

possibly, but... mindez (on the PCX forums) says...

Quote:
Nearest thing I can find categorised at the Tate to "oslier" is "A Illiers-Combray V 1973-4" - a collection of modern art that seems to just be comprised of different coloured grids of dots. They look horribly like a perplexcity puzzle, oddly.

possible lead, or lack of sleep?

This dead at eleven thing, i like tho...

Thanks for that! Take the first 2 dashes from the second line (originally an O in what I wrote), and you get -- / - / --, which could become .-. / -. = RN -- as tally says, we did sort of get that last night.

Thinking about it, I could well have written dashes instead of dots, since it was so slow - I'm used to it being about 5 times faster! It's taken many watches through the videos to be confident of what I've transcribed...

And I could have missed an O - it was difficult to write because it was so dark.

Nice work Nick. Entirely envious of all those that got to go.

Couple of thoughts on what people have posted:

Could this be a meeting time and date?

"Tate M dead (or just Modern) at eleven....by (him/her/your) self V."

Could Oslier be Oliver?

Bel

EDIT: Incidently one of the exhibits at TM is a bunch of white cubes, sorry a "gigantic labyrinth like structure called EMBANKMENT, comprising 14000 boxes".

EDIT 2: Illier-Combray is not a Perplex puzzle (posted 2001 on tate site), but could be a link to Proust's "In Search of lost time".

Just had another thought, my .. / -. / -... / -- / -.-- = INBMY, could be respaced to give .. / -. / -... / --- / .- / - = IN BOAT. And the Tate has its own pier...

So,

"Not safe. Tate Modern at eleven, in boat by yourself, V"

What do you say?

EDIT: I'm going for a cigarette. Lets see if we can come up with anything else when I get back...

Shame I couldnt be of help with the morse code at all, though I was very interested last night.

My friend however had an idea about the " A Illiers-Combray". We noticed that they all had different patterns and were different colours. I wonder if they could be overlayed over each other to act like a filter and produce a single image... they do seem awfully similar to a perplexcity puzzle.

You still can be. We need to translate 2 messages. Left and right. It may be that we've mixed the 2 up.

We have one message. lets keep going...

So...

-. --- - / ... .- ..-. . .-.-.- / - .- - . / -- --- -.. . .-. -. / .- - / . .-.. . ...- . -. --..-- / .. -. / -... --- .- - / -... -.-- / -.-- --- ..- .-. ... . .-.. ..-. --..-- / ...-

does this line up with people's recordings of the right-hand morse code? it says "Not safe. Tate Modern at eleven, in boat by yourself, V"

a major discrepancy could imply we have it wrong...
