not an elephant?

Thought I'd try my hand at a solve...

I filled in all areas of the brain maze NOT accessable from the exit/entry sites and got what may be:

I think you might have missed some. I included a quick photoshop wand select and fill. I also did one showing the shortest route.

(Partially because of the blatant hint in the text, as well as the hint hint (a hint is close by), but partially because it's what I inputted and I refuse to be wrong now)
