I do believe my words have been taken the wrong way.

I do believe in completeness and i am the same way with video games. I did not however say this puzzle was bad, just that some folks should accept others opposing views of these puzzles.

I actually like this puzzle, I wish more people were actually willing to try and delve into the maths, and give it some solid effort. Yea its a longstanding math problem, but im not willing to accept defeat just because it IS so difficult. Its my Completionist attitude that will not let me put this puzzle down, and it drives me to try and get others pumping out ideas, rather than the "Lets wait for THEM to proof it, and then we will use that as our answer".

I dont really hold too much belief that people will be willing to go that far to solve this. But i do, and i will keep trying.

If you get nothing else out of this post just get this, I post in opposition of those who would not accept other opposing views to their own.

If you give people crap, for trying to help and pushing the envelope, stepping out of the box to try and make progress, I will feed this crap
back to you on a silver plate.

if nothing else... please dont give people crap for helping or trying, and i wont be prompted to wage war on the forums.

Cool, now lets get back to Riemann Smile

Wow. You're like our very own troll knight in shining armour, waging your one person war against those who would dare to say something mean. My hero.

Personally (as I've just said in a horribly long post on the Riemann page), I'm not sure that we have hit a wall with this, the wording of the emails etc suggests to me there's something more here - perhaps to do with the Perplexian solve of this card.

Although, of course, I'm probably wrong - I realise this, so don't you flame me Evil or Very Mad

Just mark me up on the board of "still holding out a vain hope..."

Probably. But what's it matter? I'm a romantic.

I suggest that in future you direct your problems with me to a PM and we'll have a nice little chat in private.

Ah... sorry... forgot. You don't sign in. Hmm.

Yeah.

I must say, referring to yourself as x all the time makes you seem so dangerous and edgy. "Oh how mysteriously cool x is" they all say.
Man, I wish I was like you.

I have to read this discussion with some note of irony because none of us want this card to be solved.

Modern encryption techniques, specifically public-private key pairing, is entirely based upon the strength of supposedly random prime number distribution.

If the Riemann hyposthesis is proven true, our entire privacy system over the internet could have critical weaknesses we can't even see at the moment. We may not be able to create a replacement system.

So yeah, I kind of hope this card ISN'T solved soon.

Ha.. thats so funny i was gonna post that a few days ago.

I really dont know if a function that lets us calculate any prime number would give us the power to break all encryption. I dont know the code that well.

But assuming it did... Expect world chaos. Without encryption the banks of the world would be the first attacked, and it would throw the world economy into turmoil. next would be the world defenses, probably the US first.

All those fears people had at Y2K... yea well they would become real overnight. Expect your banks emptied, the nuclear plants all would blow up, air force one would fall out of the sky. And nukes would start flying.

The chaos would be unreal. ... enter "Fallout" the reality.

So this means that if someone solves it, they get a million dollars, 60 PXC points, and destroy the security of every bank that could possibly hold the winnings? Causing global chaos as all governments, corporations and individuals worldwide suddenly have all their dirty little secrets on display?

Still, 60 points... Hmm...

just think about it, you wouldn't just be getting the 60 points. I'm sure that the PXC site has a 1024-bit enctryption process, you'd be able to get in and give yourself as many points as you'd like Wink

So, yeah, I'm with the folks that don't want this to be solved Wink
