Forthcoming card waves black/silver Hi,
I'm fairly perplexed. In the first two waves that we have had, 9 cards of colours red - purple were released and only 6 of the black and silver sets.
This leaves 14 cards in each set red-purple yet to be released and 20 from the black and silver sets.
Am I missing something? It wouldn't be anything new if I was, but if there's another, say, two waves to be released, are the frequency of black and silvers in packs going to increase?
It's just the nasty, cynical part of my brian (I'm Scottish so every penny spent is a penny grudged ) is saying that perhaps MC may be doing this to boost sales? For example, I wasn't overly impressed by the fact that Firebox are selling mixed waves of 1 & 2 (but that's just my opinion).
Or are there going to be small competitions within the game (like the 333 introductory packs) that'll win us cards if we solve them on time?
I've never played a game like this before or played any trading cards games or anything like that so this is a totally new experience for me and I don't know if this is the way that trading cards work.
This is a hypothetical idea so feel free to trout me for missing the bloody obvious if I've just missed out on understanding some key/integral part of the game.

It's an interesting point...(might do better in Meta though). Also, will waves 3 and 4 be mixed in with 1 and 2? I can't cope with any more copies of Bar none.

Don't worry, you aren't missing anything! It's a bit of a mystery, I agree. It's possible that the hardest puzzles are also the most difficult to design so the puzzle scribes are taking a little longer creating them. Also, because it's difficult to strike the balance between "really, really hard" and "impossible", the scribes might be waiting to see how we get along with the first few before they finalise the remaining cards.

Also, I wonder if the ratio of silver/blacks to non silver/blacks will increased with the next waves.

We can only hope...

Though they could just increase the number of silvers and blacks in the wave, while keeping the same chance of finding one in a pack (having more variety but printing less of each, in other words). Then you'd have people complaining about how they had every card except one silver that they couldn't find anywhere because it was so rare.

Hey! Don't knock people's right to complain. I strongly believe that complaining is the true basis of our (somewhat) civillised society. There will never be enough are cards to keep everyone happy by definition I would think. (hope)

Well i imagine that they will have to do something to the ratios.
If silvers/blacks in the 3rd/4th waves are more common than those in the 1st/2nd waves then trading could become interesting.

Looking at the cards that it can be presumed will be in the next wave, ie the ones that now have card pages, it looks like the next wave will be:-
7 each of red - purple
10 each of black and silver
Neatly bisecting the remaining cards.
What the colour distribution in packs will be is another matter entirely of course.
Interestingly, the only new card as yet unseen with a picture of the card is 39: 4 Colour Theorem. Most likely this will be the card in the telegraph on Sunday.

Do you mean no picture here ? Well there is now
Also the last puzzle spread had a 4 colour problem undoubtedly based on this card - I think it's unlikely they would use a card with an almost identical puzzle to one printed last time round. It may not even be an unreleased card, although I suspect it is.
EDIT: Oh sorry, I misunderstood, you mean this is the only other new one with a picture - that makes much more sense!

Yes, I agree the telegraph is unlikeley to do a similar puzzle.
However, the fact that this has a picture (and the others do not) must mean it is (or will be) released soon.
Kepp your eys peeled....

I like the sound of Aromarama.
Edit: all the wave 3 names are up. The odds will have to go up. I only counted 7 blacks though, not 10.

Being an obsessive type, I have all the names of the new cards if anyone wants them.
The first seven in every colour from red to purple, plus the first ten for black and silver (except for some reason black card 195 is not there), making 62 in total (assuming 195 will be issued).
Thus either these blacks and silvers will be more common, or these reds to purples will become *very* common if the black and silver rarity is maintained.

Think that all 3 waves of cards will be mixed in the same packet so the rarity across the board will be maintained.....but you have more chance of getting cards you already have from previous releases.....it is 1 of the main ways that they generate the revenue.
