just wondering aloud about Kevin's comment on the Cypher page...

Perhaps he's trying to better define his 'perimeter' to keep all that nothing from wafting off into space? Wink

Kevin strikes me as being humor oriented. I think that was meant to be taken as a joke at this stage.

Now if we come across info that the Cyphers were womb farming babies and letting wolves raise them, then we can take another look at the statement. Laughing

Definitely humor-oriented - email from this morning:

Haha! I haven't laughed like this in a long time. Good one!

Shunyata actually picked the image personally, but not because it
resembled him. He certainly doesn't have his tail between his teeth.
He's sort of a big little guy, if you know what I mean. But no wings, no
crests, no breathing fire. Well... except metaphorically. I'm a curious
guy and his answers can get pretty fiery when I ask the wrong questions.

As soon as Shunyata clears all of the little secrets I'm sending to you
cats, I'll get the tutorial up and running. It should be soon, but
Shunyata works when he works, you know?

Glad to have a thinker like you aboard, Synch!

Again with the "cats".
I'm thinking there may have been something to that Bill Gallagher story.

The date of the document looks to be June 13, 2005.
Not seeing anything that readily hints at speaking backwards, though.

Playing around with the paragraph breaks, currently.

Interesting that particular Bill Gallagher story appears to be dated June 2005. Still, Bill evidently has been ranting for ages, so I tend to think he's not involved.

At least, I hope not. That dude is waaaaaaay out there. Wink

Sounds like he at least has his head on correctly. Even if I may or may not agree with his views. Laughing

I hope it's just a coincidence that the Cyphers are sharing the same symbol (Ourobouros) as the Millenium Group. But I guess they don't need it any more, seeing as how the Millenium came and went with no big worries.

Well as long as Millenium doesn't mind sharing with history.

Wikipedia wrote:
The Ouroboros (also spelled Oroborus, Uroboros or Uroborus) is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon swallowing its own tail and forming a circle. An ancient symbol, it has been used to represent many things over the ages, but it most generally symbolizes ideas of cyclicality and primordial unity. The ouroboros has been important in religious and mythological symbolism, but has also been frequently used in alchemical illustrations. In the last century, it has been interpreted by psychologists such as Carl Jung as having an archetypal significance to the human psyche.
...
Historical representations:
The serpent or dragon eating its own tail can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, circa 1600 BC. However the pig dragons of the Hongshan culture (4700--2200 BC) of China are older. From ancient Egypt it passed to Phoenicia and then to the Greek philosophers, who gave it the name Ouroboros ("tail-devourer").

The Millenium group is a few thousand years too late to be the first to use it. Wink

Oh, and since someone mentioned Alchemy... (Synchronicity, was it you?)

Wiki also said:

Quote:
In alchemy, the ouroboros is a purifying sigil. Swiss psychologist Carl Jung saw the ourobouros as an archetype and the basic mandala of alchemy. Jung also defined the relationship of the ouruboros to alchemy...

hmmmm...I wonder if the Ouroborus is just supposed to represent maybe the paradox or ambiguity of the cyphers?

Obviously it can't eat itself, but it does anyways, in doing so it completes an un-ending loop...

meh...just pondering

...dot...dot...dot...

Yep, that was me. The earliest documented association with alchemy that I can find thus far is the Kleopatra (Cleopatra) Oroborus in The Chrysopoeia - gold-making during the Alexandria era, although both alchemy and the Orobouros are clearly far older.

P.S. Here's some good info on the orobouros in history- http://www.sangraal.com/library/gsa4.html

And on alchemy in general -

Old Hachita Ghost Town

Old Hachita is listed in a couple of US Ghosttown registries:

http://home.earthlink.net/~ghosttowns2/nm/#_Toc31447762
http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nm/hachita.html

so I suppose it may be a likely place to "fight ghosts".

Oh, I knew what it meant. They're just the most recent conspiratorial/pop cultural reference that's associated with the symbol that I could think of.
