Do we actually have to be able to act?! If so, count me out. I can't act for beans. I'm good at all the arty stuff like sets and costume. Give me a backstage job!

I would help if I wasn't...uhh...many lots miles away. I suppose I could do some script work or something. I'm a fairly decent actor, I just assume this is to be filmed over in the UK, so that counts me out.

I am most definitely in. I can be the editor amongst other things. I'm studying tv design and production, and want to be a tv/film editor for a career. Im also a pretty good writer. Ok with camera, but shaky hands are a problem.

Sounds fun. Not sure what I can do, but I'd like to help if possible. I do all sorts of stuff (except acting) for a local amdram group (though I do realise some of it is very different from film stuff), so have done some props, costumes, set design and construction, stage management, lighting, sound, directing and producing. Might not have done them very well, but if enthusiasm and willingness count for anything, I'm usually ok! I think for preference I'd help make/find some props, but don't mind too much.

Hate to burst your bubble but if you look at a news post (the one from the FT) on this page:

These is something about films relating to PPC in this, not sure you will get the permission, still worth a shot.

I await their reply to my email then, anyway fan films can still be made i guess..just look at the star wars, matrix and tomb raider fan films

you mean just look at all the fan films that get cease & desist orders from their copyright holders? there was a batman one that was due to be shown at san diego comic con til DC put a stop to it. my friend mark makes films and was making a sandman one til he got told off for that too.

but MC are nice so they might give permission, would be cool, so I hope so :) i volunteer to be costume designer!

Okay,

I don't want to talk about this too much until I speak to michael smith again on the phone tomorrow, but from what he said...it's basically a go-er.

So first thing's first..We need to plan our plan of action.

As this is going to be international, we want everyone from all countries to be able to take part, which means that some stuff would be good if it was shot internationally and put together in one place.

Don't worry ill still put the list up of people who want to do what..but for now its going to have to be down to the writing.
I know we have some people volunteered to write or edit the script at the moment this is about 4 which is fine. I guess it would be useful to start thinking of ideas and or a way we could do this. I can see this thread getting very long and messy..so maybe we should think about moving it somewhere we can have multiple threads running together..
I'll work on that if everyone's happy with it, and maybe keep a topic here to update people of what's going on.???

Remember it's a group effort, so EVERYONE's ideas are welcome Wink

I'll do whatever you feel would be good...and I have £55 worth of props we could use.

My advice would be to keep quite short...no more than 7min 38secs, and under no circumstances should the script be written collaboratively.

if we do it multi location - i.e people in different countries can shoot stuff and we can edit it all together, then we definitely need story boards to go with the script to make up for the lack of singular director. i can help with drawing up the storyboards but im no visionary director! although i think a sin city type look (and plot/script) would be *ace*

I think the whole reason for the movie's existence is collaboration, so i don't see why the script can't be written by more than one person. As far as the length of the film, this depends on the time we have, budget (if any) and the script. I wouldnt necessarily limit it to under 8 minutes for the sake of keeping it short, I would however say we should keep on the short side of things as these things can take forever. On the other hand if we do it sin city style..then we can do a number of storys and put them together.

I hope that sounds good with everyone, and if nobody minds I would like to be the 'Collaboration Director and Producer' meaning that we can still have regional directors/producers, but this way there is someone with a clear focus on the whole picture?

That's not a bad reason.

Upon second thoughts, Chris does make sense, it's not necessarily a problem unless we make it one. We need ideas for the plot to be collated by as few people as possible to get a coherent plot and then as Spug suggested people can write scenes/pieces etc.

But we do need a definite agreed plot or else the whole thing wont work.

Submit your plot ideas on a postcard!

How about a reenactment (sic) of something that has already happened within the game.

Possibly we could cut between 'real' and 'perplex' where by we have actual players doing something and perplex characters reacting to what we do.

How about us messing up the PPC Police. You could cut between 'us', playing ourselves making phone calls and PPC policemen turning up to different locations (which would make the multi-location element less bizzare), cut that between the Roll for damage concert and also some characters, Kurt and Anna, say talking about what we are doing.

Ending up with us getting hold of the files

There you could get different people recording short bits of them where ever in the world then you could coherently cut bits together...you could have PPC Policement turn up to find nothing in different locations in the world.
