Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Glasses filled with water don't really make the right sound.

Try playing it on a stringed instrument of the acoustic and folk varieties.

And yes, very very famous.

Even with that I really haven't a clue, I was never great with names of songs, I played it on my violin which must be the closet instrument I have to folk varities but the only thing its done is tell me its not some tune from a horror movie...is there any clues out there could help that are left...? Crying or Very sad

Edit: Although one of my friends thinks its:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was thinking plucked acoustic, not bowed. Shows how much I know about music. It's more mandolin than violin.

Not Eyes Wide Open.

but if you were to shut those eyes you would be in the right field
sorry couldn't resist that even though this card was driving me mad before I went away for the weekend (morrissey in glasgow, brilliant). I'm sure if you play ollie's notes on anything you'll get it. can't believe how I missed it given I thought i'd played every combination with the first and third note.

Actually the first thing I though when I heard the notes was "Glam Metal Detectives" but there is a very good reason for that... (Yes it was an appaling comedy program, for anyone else that saw it, but I like those)

It's starting to sound a little familiar.
Hmm... I'm wondering if the 'fish' clue has anything to do with the best times to go fishing... ? Confused
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Is it 'Sunrise, Sunset'?

I still don't have this card, so can't even make quesses. Sad

I Bet Michael Never had to Deal with This Kind of Stuff

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH

We've been at this for ages now. Tried everything we can think of - including the Emmerdale theme tune! (Well, they've got fish there too.) We've hired in a music teacher, but she's no good. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone put us out of our misery? The music teacher is charging by the hour!

I would have been reluctant to choose this as a puzzle answer because it would involve assuming a broad scope of exposure to the source. Since MC chose it, I guess it (the source) HAS infiltrated the subconscious of much of the english-speaking world. Especially guys of the english-speaking world. In the States it is said that all real men can quote from the source. (OK that was a joke from a movie, but I have had many men tell me this is true nonetheless. And then they start quoting. Like most women, I look at them like they are crazy. It's a guy thing.)

Obscure enough, but still some hints.

Aspects of Despair

Can confirm it's not:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1.Slap my face with a kipper at midnight
2.Kipper slapping at midnight by the lake
3.Midnight time to slap me with a kipper

Please can someone let us out of our misery - or at least post the 100% proof definite Michael Ball standard notes with no errors?

ADDED: Hurrah! Got it! Thanks to all of you who gave assistance - although, I'm a little disappointed that Bendover wasn't flirting with me. Ignore the fish. Ignore the fish. Ignore the fish.
