Well. they did get the preview out to us before the site went live. 45 minutes before, so it was a moot point.
Can't discern whether the funding model is going to be exclusively covered by their investor(s) or whether there will be any player funding (There are some clue cards that look like they could be a possible income source, but not at the moment.)
There are two puzzles/clues available currently and it is a points-based competition running through October. There are already players with points in their accounts, so it's been up a while.
Check it out and have fun.
Here's the email I got:

Hello Volunteer!

Well it's not exactly super early but we did get it to you an hour early. We are still tweaking some things, but we'll do that forever - trying to make it better as we go. Please report to us any issues that you have including error messages and exactly what you did to get those errors. Let us know what you think.

Don't bother with the test link.

Hooray, I'm tied for 1st! Of course there's probably only about 50 players so far, and I don't think our European friends have gotten a crack at it yet, and I'm sure I'll crash and burn pretty quickly... But still, 1st place!

Got my Treasure cache in the mail, today.
As the "stasher", I got a special package which includes a CD of the theme song, three game cards and a smaller envelope with a treasure code card and "PROOF OF CONTEST ENTRY" box code card. There is also a FTF envelope which I assume has the same items. It also includes a sign-in log for 10 entries and 10 each of the same cards I got (The main movie postcard, Card # 002 [Frankie Roberts] and card # 005 [Bob Cane] and 10 more little envelopes with treasure codes [I assume]).
Each finder is to collect the Box number (Taped under the lid of the box) and use it on the website www.gpsthemovie.com. They then sign their codename on the log and take one of each card and small envelope. I get points for everyone who finds the cache and bonus points for how they felt about finding it (Graded by difficulty, location, creativity, etc.).

Can't wait to get this bad boy out there into the world!
Should have it stashed this weekend.

Good luck to all!

This game is still going. It should run until sometime in October. Plenty of time to catch up. Lots of fun. Lots of puzzles.

Caution it is addicting.
