I am toying with the semi mythical places of history . The following do not work.

The mists of history,The birthplace of mankind and The dawn of time

I don't know if this will help but my current thinking is that the four points eventually became: -
1 Cape Verde Islands
2 Galapagos Islands
3 Spitzbergen
4 East Timor

So there is a possibility of volcanic activity being involved.

Also, maybe the question on the card needs to be interpretted as meaning 'To which mystical place were these locations fated before they arrived at the places shown on the map on the card?' That's a convoluted and non-grammatical way of asking where they came from!

We don't seem to have looked so closely at the predestination side of this card, even though the words on it clearly lead us down this path. This would lead us to Calvin or Luther and anything connected to them.

Also there are connections with Darwin in that he disagreed with predestination and is certainly connected with South America (notably Galapagos) and Australia/Pacific through the Beagle voyage (where he stopped off at the cape verdi islands off north africa on the way). Can't quite link him in to spitzbergen yet.

Just a thought.

Just had a great thought:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The locations appear to be:

Greenland
Australia
Ecuador
Algeria

Which together spell GAEA (An alternate spelling I haven't seen tried yet)

Unfortunately while inspired it was also completely wrong. Bah.

think you maybe onto something magma
Done sa search on Gaea, and come up with this website
http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/mythology/gaea.html

****EDIT****
More searching pulled this out

http://www.milica.com.au/greek_myths/creation/gaea_t.htm

From this site i found the quote
She had sanctuaries at Dodona, Tegea, Sparta and at Athens., She was offered first fruits and grain; but when she was invoked as the guardian of the sanctity of oaths a black ewe was sacrificed in her honour. She was commonly represented in the form of a gigantic woman.

There is also a map which has location points on which very similar to the card, Image Attached
