How about something like:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Sun

It is a fair estimation that everywhere on Earth will end up there eventually, but is it mystical? Maybe not....

What about if parts from these places were used in the construction of a mystical place such as:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Stonehenge or The Great Pyramids

On another tangent (which may have been covered), maybe the puzzle question is actually "Are our lives preordained?", in which case the answer coule be Yes, No or Maybe.

Answer box on the solve page carries the same question as the card...
To what mystical place were these locations fated?
So the question is clear.

Note the word 'were' - that implies to me that the fated connection has already happened.

In case not I tried Amasia - nope! (As I understand it that is the name for the super continent in 250m years if the continents carry on drifting the same way they are now and collide. I believe it is called Pangaea Ultima if they return back the way they came from the initial Pangeaea break-up)

Edited to add: Just tried Mars on the basis that Mars craters are named after places on earth (Nazca is one) - I assumed the other places may have craters named after them also - nope!

Good Morning All

My thoughts, tangled as they are, lead me to believe that the word 'fated' indicates that something not very good befell these four locations. Presuming that the dark brown is land and the tan is sea, we have four locations that maybe 'disappeared' due to Mother's Earth and Nature having a disagreement (usually resulting in earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods ect). When the hint indicated that we need to look back, maybe we need to go way, way, way back.

Easter Island popped up on my search more than once. Pompeii. Atlantis.

Which brought me to the sudden conclusion that there is a possibility that Earths Destiny is to one day be under water. Tried Pacific Ocean but no go. Underwater did not work either.

But I think we are looking for 4 locations close enough together to have been affected by the same event that caused them to 'disappear' for want of a better world. To be changed in such a way as to be thought of as gone.

Obviously have way too much time on my hands. Gonna go out now and get myself a proper job.

My other thought is that this is where Max, Micheal and Isabel are from.

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/dp5/easter4.htm

This website has maps of underwater islands only around Easter Island under the pacific ocean but its a start.

I like your logic, though I can't think of any relevant locations. I was already thinking of submerged, but I thought they were all a bit inland. Maybe we're looking at an earlier stage in tectonic plate movement.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If they all ended submerged I suppose the answer could be something like Davy Jones locker. Will I waste another solve on this, or will you, and maybe rob me of my first first. Ok you don't think it's worth it either.
Tried Davey Jones locker. Don't think it's worth trying Davey Jones' locker as well.

Ok, have never previously posted, mainly because by the time I've got round to attempting cards people far more intelligent than me have either solved them or gone way past the point of my understanding.

I have nothing particularly bright to add on this card but since I vaguely understand it and it remains unsolved I thought I'd try to move tentatively out of the box...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Are the modern day sites previous Olympic games venues? So Olympia perhaps?

My other thought involved things named after the places but that only led me to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Wombles
so unless the mystical place in question is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Wimbledon Common
I think my train of thought has spectacularly derailed.

In other words this post is entirely unnecessary and if you've just read the above ramble then I apologise for the seconds I've taken from your life that could have been better spent.

Personally, I feel that no post is a waste of time... I also feel that the last {SPOILERED} text you put in was genius - truely sideways thinking (nice to see a yam-yam keeping their end up!).

Anyhoo... someone has previously pointed out that the damned stars seem to be on mountain ranges / high spots. The whole "global-warming-gonna-end-up-under-two-foot-of-water", sea-level rising thing does make it possible that these spots could end up being the only places peeking over the waters, however - as previously posted, the wording of the card seems to suggest otherwise:

"To which mystical place were these locations fated"

This suggests to me that they are no longer believed (or commonly believed) to be fated to the mystical place.

T'other thing that springs to mind is that in no picture of pangea that I've found is the bit at the top of the card present... is this really a picture of pangea, or an image of someone(a particular someone)'s interpretation of pangea?

Just wanna throw a brand new thought into the mix....these stars shown in certain places....could all of them actually be stars or some sort of comet that when travelling all crashed and burnt out in the same place on earth...they may all be seperated by thousands of years between each one - but just came to me so thought I would share.

Two things strike me about the wording:

"Fated" has negative connotations, which suggests to me that these places are no more. Secondly as there is a single answer, we are looking for commonality between the four points...that said no joy with:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
top of the world
Olympus (rather than Olympia)
Heaven
which were my first thoughts.

BertyB.

Could you be referring to a posssible asteroid impact at the end of the triassic period - the one that killed off the dinosaurs - possibly?

Did this make way for life to exist as we know it now through evolution?

I am trying to work out where the 4 places are on the modern day map. Maybe the towns have the same name. Mystical? Im working on that!!

http://www.dinosauria.com/dml/maps.htm

I think triassic period is the closest match, but feel free to say otherwise
