Dear Sunny,

So you think we are being haunted by Sarah Wyatt? Well, it's possible, I
suppose, but how does that explain the poltergeist activity at the Library? Why would she have any animosity towards the books Agatha has so carefully arranged. She could possibly have some misplaced resentment towards us but, in actual fact, her dementia was the cause of her losing the house. We didn't have any direct dealings ith her. I saw her at a distance on occasion but never had a conversation nor do I believe she was capable of having one. You ust understand that she was quite disassociated from reality by the time we came to Aglaura. She was filthy and rag-tag from wandering through the woods and by the bogs and lake. Imagine, if you will, how you would have reacted to Van Gogh when he was alive. Yes, we all know now that he was a brilliant artist but, if you were his landlord... well, he was a madman who never bathed and
splattered blood around the room when he cut off his ear and never paid his rent on time. Do you see my point? Would you have befriended him?

In rosy retrospect, a lot of people here want to believe they recognized the value of her art and appreciated her "ethereal quality." But, the truth is she roamed about like a bag lady and most people simply felt embarrassed by her presence and pitied her. I dare say if they had all had the appreciation they now claim, they would have done something for her before she lost the house. Yes, I admit without shame that when Douglas saw the paperwork, we did seize the opportunity to buy and restore a grand but derelict property. However, please do not imagine that we physically threw the poor girl into the wilderness. That was the consequence of her mental illness. So, I guess she could have resentment towards everyone in town, not just us. Is it not a hallmark of the mentally ill that someone else is to blame for their condition? You ask, why the keys? Why other, personal things? I think what we have here is a kind of mischievous spirit, a crazy-maker. It intends to disrupt regular routines, to make someone doubt their orderly habits and thereby, lead them toward believing that they are insane. That first night and day, I was certainly doubting myself. But, I think I thwarted it by being medicated. So, it attacked Douglas. Now that we are both tranquilized, it hasn't broken anything else. The hall light still has a will of its own and the thumps and cold spots are on-going. But, so far there haven't been any new manifestations. I think that apparitions of all kinds draw their strength from the emotions of the living and if we don't feed the little troll it will wither away. At least, that's my hope...

You wrote: I know that you believe in the supernatural. I'm not sure what I've said to give you that impression. Was it my seeing the dead eyes? I really think it's just that I'm more observant than most people. I pay attention to the details that others ignore. It comes from my training in antiquities – you have to keep a sharp eye to see the treasures among the trash at auction houses and flea markets. Certainly, I believe in God and that's quite supernatural, I suppose. But, you know, it could be quite ordinary, quite natural and not supra at all for God and dead eyes and ghosts and disruptive sprites to exist in the world. It might not be a matter of belief; it might just be paying attention to the details. I also believe in Destiny, in the kind of fate that brought Douglas and me to this lovely town and gave us the opportunity to own this wonderful house. And, I positively worship beauty and craftsmanship--

Oh no! One of those cold spots has moved into my office. Well, I'll write more later. I need to get out of this room now!

> Ohmygoodness!!!! Things sure have heated up for you these past couple of days. Sounds like there is a haunting going on and the ghost is mad at you! This ghost has taken very personal items, things that mean something to you and your husband and have messed with them. Who could it be? I understand that you had to have dealings with Sarah Wyatt and she dissapeared. If she passed maybe she is angry that her paintings were destroyed as well as intimate things that meant something to her.
Also why the keys? And what was the statue of that had the rolex round it
and what book was stabbed with the Mont Blanc (men and their toys)Only
suppositioning.. if I had a house that was as in bad a state as yours when
you bought it I would do the very same thing! It must have been a mess. I know that you believe in the supernatural. What brought about your beliefs? Oh btw. I heard a rumor that Wes Keeler has been heard from and that he is going to be in town soon. I know how concerned that you have been for him. Just to let you know more history of the red disc since you are experienceing such strange things. The man that Wes sold the disc to went insane and hid > the disc where no one could find it. He then killed himself in front of his wife. And as I have mentioned before wher eever the disc is whoever has it sees the deadeyes.
I am glad to know that your husband has seen the occurances as well.
I must give a chuckle. Someone that has to work with logic as much as he does it must have been a hard experience for him to deal with.
I have a little bon mot that would be very comforting to you and perhaps give you a bit of satisfaction. Mrs Dobbs the librarian is having books
mysteriously fly off the shelves as well! Let her take a little of the heat
for a change! Well we need to figure out what is attracting these deadeyes to you since you said you have seen so many. And I am wondering if the keys on your ring have any significance. Like that one key that you have that supposedly glows in the dark during a full moon! lol! Only half joking Phyllis. One last thing people are looking for that disc. I think that it will be found soon. You
