... I don't have the card, but could it be:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Neil Armstrong? The race to get a man on the moon could be the 'quick path' and he was the first person on it...

someone try it out?

Had a bit of a Star War thought on this one last night and got locked out, I was thinking along the lines of...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
first walker - Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader (both wrong) and quick path being 'the dark side of the force' also wrong

may have some merit.. Confused

Yeah - I had the same thought. Was going to try
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Anakin
when my card unlocks this evening.

Ok - had an email back from Mind Candy saying:
Quote:
*we* missed part of the puzzle. The corrected solution will be uploaded to our database later today.

The Corrections and Notes section on the solve page now reads 'Please give the last name only' and the question has changed to 'Who is it?'

Edit: Can't believe it - just got my first ever 'first solve' Very Happy . To give you all a hint, one of my earlier wrong answers was remarkably close.

Figures the card has "What is it" I was starting to think the message was
bogus, I was gonna try ... "syzygy cube" Considering it looks like one. But since its changed to "who" ... it seems the Moon idea was the best.

Can we get a spoilerized answer? ... im fairly sure what it is, but i dont have the card and cant try the answer.

Possible solution

Knowing how much MC likes Lewis Carroll and related puzzlers, I think its worth look at this topic on Wikipedia:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
tangram

And of course the key connection to the clue from the cube would be

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Pythagoras, who discovered the "quick path" across any distance based on the tangram puzzles

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

And it's not:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Armstrong

Buddha

It's been a couple of days, 14 solves so far, no more places on the Top Ten to go... Any charitable fellow or fellowess feel like giving a reasonably big clue?

I reckon you haven't gone back far enough in this thread Magma. To give you a major hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was right first time

It couldn't be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Kurt
could it?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The first walker on the quick path could be the person on the path of least time, i.e. Kurt?
Just a thought Smile

Ok - obviously I'm just confusing everyone so for those still stuck:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In geophysics, the least-time path is the fastest route that a seismic ray can travel between two points, generally dictated by Fermat's principle.
