I guess we should just start plumming in not so random words and I would love it when people have tried these that they could post to say they have failed. and also post to say they have tried in the past mebe.

Possible nauticle ones to try. - and please check spellings first because mine may not be right.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Brittania
Nelson
Napoleon
Armada
CINCNAVHOME - don't ask Smile
traffalger
hms victory - no punctuation

and any others you may want to try around the battle of trafalger and the HMS victory

Although a hint would be are they all letters? and you can say yes if they are roman numerals too.. no for any english numbers . could you do that?

I took a guess based on the comments from the previous solvers, and looking through the thread.

Since I do not have a card to try guesses, I am continuing to look at the code.

going with the turning the two flags for K+H to get V + I then sureley this would mean that the white red square with a cut out would be

H -with a cut out makeing a K?

only an idea so don't shoot me for it Smile

It is an interesting idea. If we allow that some of the flags are rotated and/or printed on the wrong shape of flag, we can get almost all the flags from just the standard ICS alphanumeric and US navy numeric flags. And we had another code posted previously that depended on the shape of the flag, only.

Column 1: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 = 7 total
Column 2: 4,6,8,9,6,10,11,12,9,10,13,7,8,2 = 14 total
Column 3: 4,7,14,17,10,7,15,14,16,6,14,13 = 12 total

1 (triangle, yellow & blue): pennant 5, or K on the wrong shape flag
2 (triangle - blue on white on blue): J on wrong shape flag
3 (pennant - white disc, red field): (missing)
4 (white & red burgee): H on wrong shape
5 (nested squares, red, white, blue): W
6 (blue cross, white field): X
7 (white square, blue field): P
8 (5 small marks, white field): zero
9 (pennant - red, white, blue) pennant 3, or T on wrong shape
10 (rect. blue on white on red): T rotated CCW
11 (white field): (missing)
12 (Burgee red, white, blue) T on wrong shape
13 (Burgee white on red): H rotated CW on wrong shape
14 (rect. yellow on blue): K rotated CW
15 (square, red & white quartered): U rotated
16 (pennant, white & black alternating): (missing)
17 (rect. blue, white, red): T rotated 180

Other meanings are possible in the other codes, also. But still none of the codes we have seen provides a meaning for the black and white striped pennant.

It's not

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Trafalgar

And now I'm locked. Anyone have any clue whatsoever what the card structure actually is? Is it likely that each flag code for a letter of the answer, or the initials of the answer, or is it more likely a question and thus completely useless for reverse engineering from the answer?

Actually...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
...you don't have to solve the code at all (I haven't) ...just allow inspiration to flow. Start at the beginning of the thread and I expect you'll ind the answer

...and yes I did kick myself.

I'm sure I will find the answer somewhere within these pages, it's just the recognising it as such that's the problem Drool
