Just cannot see the common link that others can. Have just locked myself out - but new thoughts point to a name of a "flagship" or similar?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think the flags represent and spell out the name of the commander on the ship in question and that ship is the answer we need.

As I said locked out so cannot try any till tomo?

Hey all, first post here but I'll spare the introductions. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for helping me make the connection to get the solve. Being 36th to get the solve isn't exactly special, but it feels good nonetheless.

In the spirit of giving everyone a little clue, I've come up with something I think is particularly devious...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Thinking it's a subsititution cipher was the right thinking, but on the wrong lines.

Personally I don't think it's as obvious as some have suggested and I certainly did not kick myself.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I found doublecross' nugget on 9 May to be the most useful (combined with Kevin's links).

thanks!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
but what book is he talking about?!

i never got that!

Can any one give me a solid clue? I thought it was
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
NAPOLEONIC (as in wars) and the day Nelson died (Monday) The day (21) The month (October)
That seems to be all that I can get from the clues given that are of one word. I am now locked out another 24 Bang Head I seem to be extremely dense on this one

Turns out I had one guess left before complete lockout, and it seems that I got a psychic boost from somebody and pulled it out in the bottom of the ninth 2 out. Whew!

I just got the answer by guesswork plus the clues here. But I won't be satisfied until I figure out the code as well.

The way some of the wave 3 silvers have turned out, I'm wondering if we're looking too deep into those wave 1's... ? At this point, I'm really hoping their answers *are* as difficult as we think they are! I'd be really disappointed if the answers have been staring us in the face all this time! Shocked
