[Ivy set] #034 Cocktails

Sorry not to have a scan as yet, but this one is driving me mad! It's an orange for goodness sake!

A photograph of five cocktails on a table is shown, with the text: 'What is the end result of all of these cocktails added together?'

On the table is a (UK) income tax coding statement covered by another piece of paper with two chicks and the text 'These are quite tricky. If only someone had left some sort of clues around...' on it. There is also a screwdriver on the paper (I think a real one rather than a picture on the paper, but it is hard to tell).

Of the cocktails, the left hand one has a cherry, two slices of lemon, a straw and a red umbrella in it and is cloudy red. The second has three slices of lemon and a straw and is cloudy brownish orange. The third has a cherry, two slices of lemon, a straw and an orange umbrella and is cloudy yellow. The fouth has a slice of lemon in it and is cloudy orange. The fifth has a slice of lime in it and is clear green.

There is no artist signature.

My thoughts:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There are three clues to the cocktails but I'm not sure if the other two have clues. There is a cocktail called a screwdriver, and also one called 'income tax'. There is another called 'yellow bird', but why two yellow birds? These probably account for the middle three cocktails. Vodka and lime cordial with a slice of lime is a 'gimlet', which could be the fifth. Not sure what the reddish first one is.

Then there is the problem of what to do with them. There is a single answer. It could be something amusing such as 'vomit' or 'intoxication', or something made of the last letters of the cocktails.

So far, pretty lost on a supposedly easy card.

Thanks for that. My head was starting to hurt and I was beginning to want to drink strange coloured liquids.
Following your logic, I think that the last one is probably:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Tequila Lime

or some such concoction.
I need a beer......

Bah, and when I first opened this card I thought knowing it was an Inland Revenue Form P2K(T) would be useful.

Bobby Joe Jackson and I got very distracted while trying to answer this one, and managed to end the card solving for the evening as we made my favourite ever cocktail - a Cayman Mudslide. As it was so good, I thought I would post the recipie here for everyone else to try!

1 oz vodka
1 oz kaluha
2 oz baileys
a dash of tia maria
ice
vanilla ice cream
oreo cookies

Fill an upright blender half full with ice. Add half a tub of expensive vanilla ice cream (eg Haagan Daas) and the booze. Blend until smooth. Pour into 2 hurricane glasses (the upright ones), sprinkle with crushed oreo cookies and add a straw.

Careful of brain freeze (suck too hard & you freeze your sinuses!)

(Edit: Moved to correct thread)

Well - I got to say I used to work in a cocktail bar and i would not have got that due to two facts:

1) They were the worst looking cocktails ive ever seen!!

2) Most were in the wrong glasses and with the wrong friut garnishes!!!

LOL

Thanks for putting me out of my misery!!

Wink

Hahahahah, I shouldn't have let my mother look at this card. When she saw it she looked at the two little birds (chicks) and the screwdriver and just shouted out "EWWW chicks get screwed after all of those cocktails!?" Laughing

Oh mom....funny stuff. Razz

I think the cocktails are in the right order, and they are

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Tequila Sunrise (hint: the redish tint of the room)
Income Tax (Hint: income tax form on the table)
Pina Colada (Hint:??? What is the hint for this one?)
Screwdriver (Hint: Screwdriver)
Yellow Bird (Hint: yellow bird on the table)

Does anyone know what the hint for pina colada is supposed to be?
