Wait, did Fenwicked actually play WIBS? Shocked I missed that.

No, that's what's so funny about it.

See, there was this note in Phoenix. We were having problems finding anyone within WIBS to get it within a resonable amount of time, so Scrappy posted on her LJ asking for help. Fenwick saw it and agreed to help, but not before someone actually playing WIBS also agreed to go get it.

Now, in order for this other person to reach the library, they had to travel across town in rush hour traffic. So later that night, we end up getting messages from this other individual going "I went to the library, but the note wasn't there!" All of us are very sad that the note is missing and wondering if someone stole it before our fellow WIBS player got it. However, a little while later, a message from Fenwick appears going "Got it! Muahahahahaha!" Fenwick was a lot closer to the library, and was able to complete the mission before the other person got there, but missed communicating this fact until the poor soul found the note missing. So not only did Fenwick beat this poor nameless soul to the library note, he's now become quite the term amonst the WIBS players.

That was a different nameless soul. Crispy wasn't playing WiBS until I recruited him to fetch a note in Miami. He drove right into some massive traffic blockade for a parade or protest or something, parked in an ambiguous spot, and then still didn't find the note because he too had been "fenwicked" but not by Fenwicked who was in Phoenix. Crispy returned to chat with his $90 ticket story (and thought he could contest it as unfair), to have us tell him that someone posted that they got the note earlier in the day but forgot to let people know it had been taken care of. I think the term "to fenwick" would never have caught on from just the one episode, but having two similar scenarios play out in the same game really sealed it. Plus, it helps that his nick is already a verb past tense form.

Does Fenwicked know that he now has a verb named after him?

I just thought I would try to help out. Very Happy It did become a "coined" term in the duration of WIBS (and I don't mean to offend Fenwicked in any way, it just happened . . . twice!!). Plus people were asking what it meant, so I thought I would attempt a definition at the Urban Dictionary. Razz

I have now become a verb. That makes me laugh so hard. Laughing

And for the record, I'd like to point out that I didn't ever intend my name to be a past-tense verb. It's more like the word "wicked" with a "fen-" stuck on it. It's a nickname some of my friends gave to me years ago. But whatev.

I do find it very ironic that someone as chronically unpunctual as I am would become known for something like this. Smile
