Quote of the day June 5th

Quote:

Giving opens the way for receiving
Florence Scovel Shinn

American artist, author and illustrator of popular children's literature, 1871-1940

The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.

If one is willing to do a thing he is afraid to do, he does not have to face a situation fearlessly, and if there is no situation to face; it falls away of its own weight.

Every great work, every big accomplishment, has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision, and often just before the big achievement, comes apparent failure and discouragement.

Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.

You will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation which 'clicks'.

We cannot always control our thoughts, but we can control our words, and repetition impresses the subconscious, and we are then master of the situation.

Quote of the day June 6th

Quote:

If you wish to win a man over to your ideas, first make him your friend
Abraham Lincoln

16th U.S. president, who brought about the emancipation of the slaves, 1809-1865

I don't like that man. I must get to know him better.

'A drop of honey catches more flies than a gallon of gal.' So with men. If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend. Therein is a drop of honey which catches his heart, which, say what he will, is the highroad to his reason.

Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

Die when I may, I want it said of me that I plucked a weed and planted a flower where ever I thought a flower would grow.

Surely God would not have created such a being as man, with an ability to grasp the infinite, to exist only for a day! No, no, man was made for immortality.

The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.

Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.

The Lord prefers common-looking people. That is why He made so many of them.

I am for those means which will give the greatest good to the greatest number.

The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just.

Daily Quote June 9th

Quote:

The function and duty of a quality human being is
the sincere and honest development of one's potential

Bruce Lee

American actor and martial arts expert, 1940-1973

Ever since I was a child I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. To me, the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one's potential.

To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.

The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.

The less effort, the faster and more powerful you will be.

Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.

To know oneself is to study oneself in action with another person.

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Quote of the day June 10th

Quote:
Your chances of success in any undertaking
can always be measured by your belief in yourself
Robert Collier

American motivational author, 1885-1950

If you procrastinate when faced with a big difficult problem... break the problem into parts, and handle one part at a time.

You have to sow before you can reap. You have to give before you can get.

Your chances of success in any undertaking can always be measured by your belief in yourself.

Quote of the day June 11th

Quote:
By appreciation, we make excellence in others our own property
Voltaire

One of the greatest of all French writers and philosophers, 1694-1778

Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination.

There are truths that are not for all men, nor for all occasions

When its a question of money, everybody is of the same religion.

The public is a ferocious beast -- one must either chain it up or flee from it.

Man is free at the moment he wishes to be.

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord, make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition but certainty is an absurd one.

A witty saying proves nothing.

It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong.

Indeed, history is nothing more than a tableau of crimes and misfortunes.

Quote of the day June 12th

[quote]Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life Immanuel Kant

German philosopher, 1724-1804

All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and ends with reason. There is nothing higher than reason.

May you live your life as if the maxim of your actions were to become universal law.

In law a man is guilty when he violates the rights of others. In ethics he is guilty if he only thinks of doing so.

Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play.

Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life.

So act that your principle of action might safely be made a law for the whole world.

The history of the human race, viewed as a whole may be regarded as the realization of a hidden plan of nature to bring about a political constitution, internally, and for this purpose, also externally perfect, as the only state in which all the capacities implanted by her in mankind can be fully developed.

It is not necessary that whilst I live I live happily; but it is necessary that so long as I live I should live honourably.

Have patience awhile; slanders are not long-lived. Truth is the child of time; erelong she shall appear to vindicate thee.

If man makes himself a worm he must not complain when he is trodden on.

Quote of the day June 13th

Quote:
Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old
Franz Kafka
Czech-born German-language writer, 1883-1924

One must not cheat anybody, not even the world of one's triumph.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy.

In the fight between you and the world, back the world.

Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.
