[Viral] Global International Football Organization

Patrol found this and we were discussing it in IRC:

http://www.gifo.ch/

For those not familiar with (international) football, GIFO seems to be a parody organization poking fun at FIFA, and highlighting some of the controversy surrounding the world of football.

Of interest is the link at the bottom of the page for Elevated Level of Play Follows Box Distribution, with surveillance photos of a guy going around the world and distributing boxes.

Seeing that the guy was wearing Puma, Patrol checked out their website and found the same guy by clicking on "The Road To Germany", but the second link to the Travelog doesn't work. The picture is not on the GIFO site, but is in the same location as another picture.

The whois for GIFO doesn't scream viral or corporate sponsorship.

The e-mail address provided on the site is "Protect The Game" which could be a very interesting slogan for Puma's next campaign, especially if it coincides with the World Cup since Puma isn't one of the sponsors.

Looks we got an early find, no references to this on other websites that Google could lead me to.

I just saw a Puma ad on TV showing one of the scenes from the photos. Didn't catch the text at the end which only flashed for a second.

Checked the Puma site again and the travelog link is now active.

I was awoken this morning by a loud knocking at my door. It was representatives from Global International Football Organization. They said I need to come with them.

Apologies. My lawyers have now told me it would be in my best interest to discontinue this blog.

Renaming thread to [Viral]
