re tablespoons/gallons -

I bet if you had just cut and pasted the question into google you would have gotten an acceptable answer -

How much were you betting there? Cos you just lost it! All I got was the usual lists of websites.

Neither of those were the question, and for the "bet" it was "cut and paste", so cough away. Raspberry

The question was sthg like "7994 tablespoons make how many imperial gallons" - which doesn't give a nice wee google calculator answer. Foolishly I didn't try asking the same question a different way..

Well then we learn even more by today's example boys and girls - Google has vast calculating resources in its search engine BUT is not quite up to the full natural language challenge. Even when they write the question.

Um, this might be a day late and a dollar short, as I'm told the saying goes, but ya think this thread might be better off somewhere else, like time wasters or something? I mean, it's not really news, nor is it an ARG, and I'd hate to clog up the N&R for a month. Just a thought...

OK, I got number 1:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
octagon
and 2:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
holy water
but not the last one - ideas?
AND 3:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the silence
(here I was trying to get all clever and not paying attention to the video soundtrack).

For No.3, I've tried

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Faith, Will, Belief

.. I just hope the answer doesn't involve sound, since I don't have any.

Sorry the answer does involve sound... you have to listen to the narrator and then it's obvious.

Well, looks like I'm going to have to cheat on this one, then.

I agree, stonefry, but I was pretty certain
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"8-pointed star"
was not going to work, so I tried another name for the figure.

I appreciate the spoilers. This is the only type of puzzle that I can't do at work, so I'm depending on you guys for the answers.

I am also without sound here at work. Thanks guys. Oh, by the way, for question two, the answer requires 2 words when, really, the second word should be good enough...

I kept putting

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
forehead

for number two.

I suppose my Catholicism overrode.
