But it completely sucks that the winner is going to end up being someone who cheated.

Right on. I can only hope that Google has a system in place to catch the cheaters (by searching for multiple contest entries from the same persson?). No one plays by the rules anymore. If the winner is a cheater, good luck paying the tax on it, buddy.

And congrats and good luck to those who got fast times the legit way.

NOOOOOO I never even thought of that. There are keyloggers that can record where mouse clicks are? Wow.

Try Google. You've got plenty of accounts, surely you know how to use Google?

Many of you wrote to the Google team to let us know how much you enjoy puzzles, so I decided to create my own puzzle challenges for you to play. Stay tuned for your first challenge on May 26 and get ready for a mental workout.

Hmm, the module hasn't changed... But it says today! Maybe a 1pm thing again? Lurking on his lj doesn't give anything either. He's been bitching about ads and spam mail.

Without using the keylogger how long do u think it'll take one to solve the sudoku.

I am assuming around 4-6 minutes. Plus another 3 minutes to solve the jig saw towards the end. and a minute to solve the chess and hanging the pic. So I think anyone with a time of 7-9 minutes should deserve to get the call

the sudoku took me like 1.5 mins... it was the hanging the pics (took me like 15) and the restoring the picture (took me like 2 hours) that take the time

No call here either, but I can tell you this: I didn't use a keylogger and besides the sudoku, it only took me 3:49 to finish off everything else (mostly because of the jigsaw puzzle). The sudoku probably took me between 1:30 and 2:00.

Final time: 5:30 - 6:00 minutes.

Whoever won, did it extremely fast.

Hey, is anyone playing the Wei-Hwa's Puzzle Challenges that took place of the Davinci code thing on the Google Homepage?

I'm trying, but i still cant get the first puzzle.

Quote:
Using the numbers 3, 3, 8, 8 (in any order), make a mathematical expression that equals 24. You can use only addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (and parentheses), but in any order you wish. Note that you have to use all four numbers; otherwise 3 times 8 would be valid -- and that wouldn't be much of a puzzle, would it?

Sounds easy, but my family and i have been working on it since it came out on the 26th and i am now convinced that its not possible... Anyone else having trouble? Or am I just dumb? If that is the case, the answer would be appreciated

I did what any self-respecting person would do when they can't come up with the answer. I googled it.

There is an answer, and it
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
involves fractions

If you still want to know the answer - here is the step by step
Ask Dr. Math
and if you just need the solution
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
8 / ( 3 - 8/3)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
he actually gives the answer.. 3*8, you just have to figure out how to get the other numbers to equal 1 (24*1=24)
