I'm not following this game but I just thought it was more than a little funny for the pm to get all upset about the parody and on top of that reprimand the players for it. Very unprofessional IMO. Than he calls puzzles "foolish" because he doesn't know how to make them. yeah.. I predict this one won't make it to the end.

well, there really wasn't much of a log

I asked him/her/it about joining the Crease and was sent a message saying "Welcome to the Crease my muppet."

And that was pretty much the extent of the conversation. I tried to get TML to give me more info but never got an answer to any of my questions.....

So, there you go.

Ok. After reading the entire log from the most recent Provider visit (look up a few posts) I feel I have to say a couple of things.

I came into the conversation a short time after theProvider showed up so I didn't see the comments about him/her hating stupidity. TheProvider mentions his/her hate for stupidity several times and goes on to say something about his/her anger & disgust for stupidity, etc etc.

I guess what's good for the goose is not neccesarily good for the gander, in this case. TheProvider wants to talk about other people's stupidity but doesn't want to take any responsibility for his/her own screwups. TheProvider depises stupidity? I guess that just means everybody else's stupidity, their own stupidity is alright evidently.

Then TheProvider goes on to explain that we have NO idea how a game like this works. Right. And they obviously do, judging from all the screwups and mistakes that have been made. Not to mention the lies.

And then there's the whole issue of people "questioning his/her authority" not being too bright either. What a crock. When you f*%# up that often how do you expect people to have any respect for you? TheProvider claims that we players have no idea how a game like this works. I'd say that, based on TheProvider's track record so far, THEY have no idea of what they're doing, much less how an ARG works.

The Provider talks about Cause and Effect. They ought to feel damn luck that they have anyone who is still interested in playing their game. The sheer amount of lies and mistakes could easily Cause the implosion of their game.

And then TheProvider "throws us a bone" by deigning to give us a puzzle while at the same time preaching how they prefer "interaction" over foolish puzzles. It sure didn't seem that TheProvider preferred interaction when he/she left the player base hanging for a week when the game went live and then didn't show up on AIM or in the IRC room.

So, if TheProvider wants to whine about stupidity & get bent out of shape because someone got fed up with his/her deceipt and ineptitude & decided to lampoon him/her with a parody site, you'll pardon me if I fail to sympathize. If TheProvider has the arrogance to think that he/she can fumble and stumble their way through an ARG, lie about mistakes made & then condescend to the players when they try and call him/her on it then I believe you deserve whatever happens. The players are the thing that makes or breaks an ARG. If you don't or won't respect the players then don't be surprised when they turn on you.

I concur with BOS....this is the rudest thing I have seen. Before, i might have said that I haven't been treated this poorly as a player since Hyp3rn3xus imploded, but this actually takes the cake.

I hafta concurr with you all. This is my first ARG experience. I believe that the genre has great potential and this is not what I visualized. This PM is destroying my perception of ARGs. If it werent for SC i would probably give up on the genre all together. I am also extremely close to giving up on BR. I am extremely upset with the experience (especially the hipocraty) found in this game. But, untill the PM does anything else to increse my iration, i think i am still in.

Every evening, for the past 11 years, I've spent at least two hours in my MUD. Every Sunday, for the past 11 years, I have spent minimum 5 hours questing in my MUD.

Why?

Because of the Game. There is no game without the players. Eleven years ago, I stood up and said "Come play with me". That was a commitment, a promise, a covenant.

"Come play with me" does not mean .. when I have the time. It does not mean .. I make the rules. It does not mean ... I am smarter than you and you damn well better know that.

"Come play with me" means I will be there to play with you. It means that I have promised you a good time, and as you are playing in my realm, I'll be right there. It means that I will make the time, and I will make sure that at the end of every day, you're feeling that you had a good, playful experience.

That has not happened with Behold Revelation, even disregarding the overt rudeness.

Every PM/DM/GM has a responsibility to the players. Be there when you say you will. Make sense. Present a game. Do not break the rules. Own your mistakes. Never ever ever treat your players like idiots.

The pawns are the soul of the game.
