There is already a thread about lost, not only the show in general but any pending ARG, here in news and rumors...

That thread is already 12+ pages long. Perhaps this thread or one specifically about this ARG would be a better way for newbies to get started?

Yes, and they've complained in that thread that it should be solely about Season 2 and not about the ARG. I've also noticed that Pixiestix has some control issues, apparently wants to be in charge of the boards, and likes to tell people what to do and where to post-- I'd just ignore her(or him). I think the boards can deal with 2 different threads.

An article in today's Daily Variety about the 'Lost Experience' confirms that:
Quote:
Clues will first appear Tuesday in the U.K., May 3 in the U.S., and May 4 in Australia.

There is an article about the game in a spanish newspaper too Smile

This is a paragraph of the article:
"In fact, several websites already exists, like Oceanic Airlines, the company that crahsed airplane belongs to"
(sorry for the poor translation, I need to review my english grammar lessons!!!)

Checking that page, there is a text hidden below the 'flights cancelled' announcement:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If anyone should find this message, please get word I'm alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they're getting worse...

I survived a horrific plane crash and am stranded on an island somewhere Northeast of Australia and Southwest of Hawaii. In the event that I am never found, please forward word of my fate to my parents.

And personal attacks aren't really tolerated here either. Pixie did nothing wrong with pointing out that there was already another thread about Lost going on. It's quite common on this board that we do not have two threads about the exact same thing. It saves people from having to post the same information in mulitple threads, plus it saves a bit on the trout if someone only reads the one thread (and doesn't use the search). If it turns out that both of these threads end up just repeating each other, you can be assured that I, or someone else, will end up locking one of them. The only reason that the two threads exsist now is because of what bill (who as an admin has some say in it) said: "Perhaps this thread or one specifically about this ARG would be a better way for newbies to get started?" The old thread was mostly filled with talk of fan sites and the official sites before this game was annouced - something that can be highly confusing for someone just coming into the game now, which is why this thread will be helpful as long as people just talk about the game.

As Dr. Confoundo pointed about above: Clues will first appear Tuesday in the U.K., May 3 in the U.S., and May 4 in Australia. So yes, it will be playable in the United States, unless by America you meant all of North and South America. I would still say it will be playable to all of the Americas (as there are no prizes to be won so no eligibility requirements) but the game just might not be as tailored to your region when compared to people living in the States.

The Hanso Foundation

I'm not sure if this is a site involved in this ARG, but here it is anyways:

http://www.bigspaceship.com/archive/hanso/

Now, it's possibly not, because the root site is that of a web developer who was hired to work on marketing campaigns, but still it's neat. It's nice to get some background info on the show in general.

There is some hidden content:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Click on Alvar Hanso, wait a minute and it will change to an official memo from Global Health Organization.

Also, click on Active Projects, and hover over the area just below the "Accelerated Remote Viewing Training Facility" to get the video shown in the Lost television show.

I'm soooo gonna be in on this! I was reluctant to join in with the fun of the sites already in existance out of Season 2 spoiler-fear (it seemed directed at the US audience). But this time: no spoilers - no problem, especially as there's the UK specific section. See you all on Tuesday night Smile

It is not official, and it is official all at the same time. Bigspaceship is not official {there was at one time a mention that it was somsone affiliated with the show who gt canned, but i doubt it myself} - but luckily they have archived the Hanso Foundation website {which was official, and was released not too long after season 2 started, but went down months ago for "fixing"}.

This is awesome, because it was so frustrating when the Hanso site went down and then went poof. They {the creators} have said in a podcast that the site will be back eventually.

Also - and this is kind of a "duh", because it comes from the same source as the startdates - but the first clue requires "finding a toll-free number that will be released during the show or commercial breaks." (via)

Actually, Big Spaceship is the company that designed a few of the Lost viral sites (Oceanic-Air, Hanso, Oceanicflight815). They also design a bunch of movie sites. The site you're probably thinking of is bigspaceship1.com, which was a hoax.

I also think the boards can deal with 2 different threads. What the boards can't deal with is petty squabbling like this. I've probably known of Pixiestix a lot longer than you, since i've been around this board for about four years now. She (just seems like a girl's name!) has the best intentions, and we don't need this thread turning from the topic of potential ARG to taking sides. When you feel like expressing your opinions of an upstanding member of this board, please feel free to start a blog and do it there. I, for one, am not interested in hearing what you (or anyone) have to say about anyone else who only ads to the discussions here.

Hi gang. It's been a while since I lurked around these parts and I'm so excited to find out that we are finally getting a legit LOST ARG! So my question is, since it's been pretty much confirmed that this thing will launch this week ahould we maybe get a thread in ARGs w/ potential? There are already two threads dealing with Lost in N&R and for the sake of tidyness it seems logical to have one thread devoted solely to the game. It's just a thought.

There was a show this evening on Channel 4 (UK) that caught everyone up with series 1.

I didn't notice anything during the show about clues... but then the clues start tomorrow.

There's two episodes showing tomorrow on Channel 4, running from 10pm BST to Midnight. I'd be betting the clues will turn up during or between those two episodes.

By the way... who the cupcakes is the fat guy with the messy hair (not thingy who won the lottery) who talks about getting the blasty sticks with Jack before he goes off to find them? He must be a new character (I missed the last two episodes last series).
