I hope s/he takes the advice seriously though. But if I can offer you some criticing as well... please remember to mention that the PM Chat is on Chat Solutions.org servers, just in case the PMs aren't familiar with the server that gets the prefered use around here.

But yeah, using a freebie site like Geocities...

Excuse me, but if you are having finaicial constraints, you shoudl come and talk to us. We can help you find low cost services so you can get a domain cheap. And a few generaopus souls have enen offered to front registering domains and host the site for grassroots games. You should be able to get one to help you have a secure location. It helps a lot with the player's suspension of disbelief.

If you want someone to talk to about this without making an appearance you can PM me Mr. Truthwillsaveyou. I'd be willing to act as a go between for you if you want to protect your identity.

However, y'all probably should have been a bit more.. polite. Remember what Imbri was talking about, about us seeming harsh and scaring peopel away?

However, after reading CE's message I sat down and began to think of just how rdiculous that whole not-secure AIM, but secure-website thing... was.

I spent work thinking of better ways to launch a game.. even using AIM. Hell, aknowledge the Direct COnnection. Use it. It may mean you need to talk more in an trailhead, reveal more of what is PERCEIVED as the plot, but that doesnt mean you can't pull a twist later. Seriously.. the costant "They are after me" but never sayign who "they" is.. is just silly. No one talks like that, especially when tryign to get help. You want help, you give information for that help.


However, as MageSteff said, kudos to the PM for not breaking character. It must have been very hard not too.
I guess, I'm starting to see these super-mysterious IM trailheads as... kind of a cop out. You can still have mystery and still have an approachable character who can be talked to. Look at Tucker in BenStove.

I just hope he shows up for the PM chats. Like I said earlier, I LOVE that people wants to create games for the community, but I HATE that they think they can do it without putting any time and/or effort into it. In any case, the PM contacted me again, IN character, trying to give me a clue to a puzzle I didn't know existed to a game I wasn't playing.
