[Update] Perplex City Newsletter

New Newsletter yay
Quote:
** PXC GOES TXT **
Not content with invading your iPod, we've now taken up residence on thousands
of mobile phones. Yes, the gateway between Earth and Perplex City has been
expanded to include text messaging. Now, you can sign up to get free SMS
updates. They're only ever used for urgent emergency messages - Kurt sent out
the first ones yesterday - and they're the fastest way to keep up with the
action as it happens.

If you want to sign up for the text service, just make sure that your cell phone
number is included in your account details on
https://www.perplexcity.com/profile/account.sbuild

(And if you've already entered your number but didn't receive a message
yesterday, please check the format you used when typing it in.)

** WE'RE IN BORDERS **

Within the next few days, all the Borders stores in the UK will be stocking
Perplex City puzzle cards. So now you can browse for books, buy a coffee and
solve puzzles, all in one place. Bliss. To find your nearest piece of paradise,
check out the store locator at http://www.bordersstores.co.uk

** FILM, FAME AND FORTUNE **
The Perplex City Video Competition is officially underway, with terrific prizes
to be won. Create a short video about the joys of PXC, and you could be walking
away with an archive set of the latest versions of Wave 1, 2 & 3, worth hundreds
of pounds - plus all sorts of priceless signed-and-framed goodies from the Mind
Candy toy chest. You'd better hurry though - judging begins on Thursday 25 May.
Rules, tips and miscellaneous info can all be found at
http://www.perplexcity.com/community/competitions/video/index.qbuild

** MORE NIFTY FEATURES **
Our tech team have been busy adding more buttons and twiddles for you to play
with at http://www.perplexcity.com. Now, you can see how your solved cards build
up to create the Perplex City map, and the Community area has had a fresh lick
of paint too. You can also download fancy graphics and new links for your blogs
and sigs, linking to the Video Competition or our free virtual puzzles. We can
even wish you happy birthday now (on the right day). Pop in and take a look at
the changes: http://www.perplexcity.com

** DOUBLE TROUBLE ON THE LEADERBOARD **

At the time of writing, there's a new name at the top of the leaderboard:
doublecross, from London, has leapfrogged previous leader oliverkeers13, thanks
largely to his unique solve of card #234, 'Mosaically Challenged'. Behind them
in joint third place is a posse of 11 puzzlers, poised to pounce at the first
sign of weakness. But who will be the first player to break the 10,000 point
barrier? Maybe it's happened already! Take a look at the live leaderboard for
up-to-the-minute scores:

** STORY UPDATE **
Anna persuaded a colleague to give her a copy of the Ceretin 6 research paper -
but in return, she let him subject the Cube Hunters to a series of bizarre
psychological tests. The results were... creative. More importantly, though, the
paper showed that one person on the Ceretin 6 trial hadn't been taking their
medicine - and Kurt guessed that they might have been hoarding it, before
eventually slipping an overdose to librarian Isaac Cymbalisty.

It was all just a theory until yesterday, when Kurt discovered that the culprit
was Miranda. Yes, Miranda. His Miranda. And all this time, he'd been lying on
her behalf, having been duped into believing that she was suffering from an
embarrassing mental illness.

Miranda tried to flee the city, but Kurt immediately registered her as a missing
person - meaning any sighting of her will automatically be reported to him. Now
she's in hiding, somewhere in the city. And Kurt feels very, very betrayed.

Happy hunting,

Mind Candy
