It seems each group of four characters = 1 letter.

Code:
Verne, Hammy, Ozzie, Stella
Ozzie, Hammy, Stella, Verne
Ozzie, Verne, Stella, Hammy
Hammy, Stella, Ozzie, Verne

Verne, Hammy, Ozzie, Stella
Stella, Verne, Hammy, Ozzie

Stella, Hammy, Ozzie, Verne
Hammy, Ozzie, Stella, Verne
Stella, Verne, Ozzie, Hammy
Ozzie, Hammy, Stella, Verne
Hammy, Verne, Ozzie, Stella

What is the message?

"Time to panic"?

P.S. Dave contacted me to clarify that the interface at the site was not within his sphere of influence, which I knew, I guess (based on the intro to this topic). His role was as a content provider for others to use in building the site. So, Dave... Apologies for the way I put your name to my issues with the site.

I really thought I had this one. I know my math skills are a bit rusty, but it seemed like just simple algebra.

Quote:
Verne and his cousin Merne are 26 miles apart. Verne starts walking towards Merne at the whopping speed of 3 miles per day. Due to the exhaustion of traveling so fast, Verne can only maintain this rate for four days. After that his speed is cut by 1/3 till he can rest. If Merne only starts walking after Verne catches up to him and they both walk in the same direction (to their other cousin Berne's house) how far will each turtle be from Verne's starting point after fifteen days?

It took me 5 times before I figured it out. Jeesh.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3 mpd x 4 days = 12. Continue to the 26 mile marker takes 7 more days (at 2 mpd). Now Merne starts walking, but he is going at 3 mpd while Verne is still stuck at 2 mpd. For the next 4 days Verne goes 4 x 2 mpd = 8 more miles, and Merne (who started out at the 26 mile marker, can travel 4 x 3 mpd = 12. So in 15 days Verne has traveled 12+14+8 = 34, and Merne has gone 26 + 12 = 38 miles. Phew!

I've "solved" this one, but it won't take my answer.

The building behind that possum has been identified

http://www.chateau-brissac.fr/2006/english.htm

But there appears to be another bug in the game and no variation of the name seems to work.

I have tried: Chateau Brissac, Brissac Chateau, Le Chateau de Brissac, Chateau de Brissac, Chateau-Brissac, Brissac Castle, Loire Valley. Ugh!

Thanks for all the help so far. We still have a few tough puzzles to crack.

Maybe you need to find a way to type that with the circumflex accent over the a: Château de Brissac or whatever, copy-paste?

We've gotten stuck a few puzzles and I've uploaded bmps to my flickr account. I'm going to try to post a couple in here to see if anyone has some good ideas.

007 Hedge Games

[SOLVED]
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ignore the letters (darn you Dave, another red herring). As I thought, the hedge or tree in the background is the key. But it's just that, hedge or tree. Remember a code that only has 2 possible inputs? Yup, that's it. Devilishly simple. I had to explain "red herring" to enfants terrible at the Hedge Games site.

As of May 30th this is still not solved.

I found a mention that Mike Monello, known here for Art of the Heist, was involved in creating this game which is also a promotion for a Dreamworks Animation movie called "over the hedge." Also there are prizes being offered.

It sounds like fun - but challenging as shown in Kona's posts.

edit to add - checking the rankings shows some familiar names. Vraal, grumpyboy, and kona are all in the top five solvers.

Any luck with this? Would like some insight into the letter in the middle puzzle too.

Actually, the food list has a lot of possible answers, as long as you just input one food item.

I have gone back into this thread and noted the [SOLVED] on the puzzles I put in here. Since these were created by Dave, I thought seeing what codes were used would be helpful for those of us trying to Catch the Wish. And a little push for some help on these last few toughies.

Here they are:

098 Animal Solitaire
