[INTERACTION] Hugh McIntyre is writing people back Well he wrote me back, I assume he's writing other people! I don't know if its a form letter or what. I didn't think he'd write back at all and now I really wish I had asked a better question Anybody else getting a response?

He is writing back. More importantly, if you write to ask to get onto his press distribution list, he replies saying to send him a link or two showing your writing work.
What I don't know yet is if we need to respond to this "in game" by sending him something that looks like we cover Hanso "in game" or if we can just, for example, send links to blogs wehre we write about the game itself. Or if it matters either way.

More from here where Hugh tells a blogger he'd be open to an interview regarding Hanso's problems with the Bad Twin book.

I think to get a good answer out of Hugh, we're going to have to word our questions very specifically

Are we sure these aren't another hacker? I'm very skeptical, after everything with the phone number
Edit: Either way, I've sent an email. Fingers crossed for a reply!

I would like to see the full email headers.
Also I would like to know that the initial email that was sent to hugh wasn't posted in public. It would be easy for some to take the public post, paste it into an email and spoof the sender.

I mailed Hugh on the first day of the ARG. I haven't posted anywhere what I put, so it will be interesting to see if he replies at all (nothing last time I checked).

1. I don't think there is a way that I can be 100% sure it isn't another hacker! But I am 100% sure that I'm not making it up!
2. I never posted that email that I sent in public anywhere.
If there is any "computer detective" stuff you want to do, I'd be happy to fwd the email to anyone who wanted it.

Well, the IP Address of the sending server matches www.thehansofoundation.org. The message passed an SPF test, but there doesn't appear to be an SPF record for hansofoundation.com, so it could possibly be spoofed.
However, since the IPs match that seems unlikely. We'd be talking about spoofing an IP address, which is not a trivial thing to do. Coupled with the fact that the recipient says the original email was not made publicly available, and I'd say this is legit.

we should create some sort of investigative site and make it look legit with no mention of abc or lost on it showing the pm's and more abc that we want it to be more reality and less bubble bursting with stupid things like putting a lost sticker on the Bad Twin book.

Now THAT's a good idea. We could form a site that's kinda out-of-game yet within the same universe as the game. I don't want to step on toes, but it may well be possible, then we could use that as a leverage for the character interaction.

Obes.
Perhaps like in political campaigns where partisans step up to defend one candidate or another, players could launch a pro-Hanso site that takes in-game criticisms or conspiracy theories and repeats the Hanso party line as a defense of the Foundation.
It would be a way both of getting theories out there, but disguised by the fact that we are helping Hanso rebut them.

That is an awesome idea. Does anyone have the resources and ability to make and quickly host such a page?
