I'm sure everyone already knows about the switch on THF site that makes the lights in the background move around? I came across it when I was doing some "work" at my job. They have bigger screens than my home computer and I could see more of the background.

If this is a new find, it doesn't seem to do a thing. Aside from making pretty lights float about.

I haven't been able to find the switch itself, but it may be because my screen is not big enough. I notice that I can't even see the entire black box that Persephone writes in where you answer "Y" to here question to get into the LYCBYG site. However, I have seen that you can tab you're way to the right spot at THF site where you can then hit CTRL-ENTER to make those background lights move around. But as of yet there doesn't appear to be any reason for doing this.

Yea, that's been there from the very start. As of now, the only purpose of the switch is to make the lights move.

Ok, call me a late bloomer but I just got into watching Lost within the last 3 weeks. I have all the episodes from both seasons on my pc & have seen them all & love the show. I would love to play The Lost Experience but it seems that I'm dreadfully behind when it comes to how long the game has been running. Is there anyway to "quickstart" as it were? I am totally hooked on the show & I think the game would be a lot of fun.....

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried the thread called [META] Quick Reference Guide yet? It walks thru the various sites and clues in chronological order, with a brief description of what was found, and links to the detailed discussions about how to access the clues.

(returned later to add) There are also the weekly round-ups that are posted on the official ABC blog (every Thursday?)

Plus, I highly recommend the Unfiction chat applet or using any IRC client to connect to irc.chat-solutions.org:6667 and join #lostexp (where we try to avoid all discussion of the TV show, especially season two, until our friends in the UK can catch up -- besides, this Experience is about a parallel storyline with its own characters). In chat, you can ask questions almost any time of day and get an immediate answer.

(note, i am continuing to add to the list of weekly round-up links)

New Hanso Industries Film?

First time poster. I was googling Hanso, like the Verizon employees in the ROT site, and found something that I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere else. There is a film on VH1s ifilm site that says it was uploaded on May 31. The address is www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2731188. It is purportedly a film made in 1965 about Hanso Industries, and it refers to the magnetosphere, Hanso satellites, Hanso funding of scientific programs and education, and that Hanso is looking to hire scientists. Has anybody seen this before? If so, is it in-game? I believe that VH1 is owned by the same parent company as ABC, but I think anybody can upload videos onto the ifilms site.

I've seen a Hanso Industries film, but I think it was on YouTube.com -- it's an independant film-maker or a film school student project. Because none of our in-game sources pointed us to it, we declare it to be an out-of-game fan work of art, but definitely a well done one.

I agree that with what we know it technically should be considered OOG, but how do we know the game masters won't intentionally plant little clues such as this on the web? But I guess that's what this forum is for, as in just in case something does turn out to be In-game that we thought wasn't. At least you guys don't just delete stuff that you think is OOG.

Thank you, colin, but:
oooh my goodness Embarassed If I had just looked at the last page of the search! In hindsight it makes sense that one of the first mentions of 'pony' would be the request for one. Aw man, and I've been so good at searching before asking up until now! Embarassed

Don't worry, that's what this thread is for Smile

Okay, I'm new to TLE, and I'm trying to figure out where to start. I personally am not one to sit and read 100's of pages of sumups to catch up, then just jump in. I like to enter through the rabbit hole, and take my adventure from there.

But it seems that the Hanso Foundation website is down, this being the trailhead, I'm not sure what to do.

I read in another thread that the site being down is part of TLE, so is there another place to start?!?

Or should I just go over to lostpedia and catch up and just lurk?!?

(P.S. Having an ARG where new player's are cut off like this, doesnt seem to be the best idea...just a side thought)

Ronin, lostpedia would be the best place to start.

Sadly, this ARG is more like a book you only get a few pages at a time.

We have two QuickReference threads here (one for Act One, if you want to start at the beginning, and one for Act Two, which began when the main Hanso site was shutdown).

You could also visit other sites, such as TLE Clues, which list the ingame events in chronological order, as well as linking to a Weekly Round-up series of blog entries. Yes, it's not quite the same as playing the game yourself, but an ARG plays out in the real world, on a real timeline, and just as in real life, sometimes you cannot always revisit a place and have it look the same as it did a month ago.

If you really really want to replay some of the flash from the original trailhead, there are archives and mirrors of the websites from the game. (Sorry, no links handy.)
