This is my thinking on the matter. Some bits have been mentioned before, but bear with me.

As Juxta said, on Thursday Kurt said about an element of truth in what Miranda has told him.

Now, going back through Kurt's posts the only thing that really jumps out at me is the whole knowledge of plants thing. This can be found here.
I agree with you echinida. I think something that she is embarrassed about and wasn't really willing to disclose has a really good certainty of being part of her "real" life. So, the plant charity is a certaintly a strong contender. From an TIAG perspective, Kurt commented on the whole plant thing TWICE in one post. It was meant to stick in our heads for *some* reason.

I really do think that the whole barrow feld sydrome is a fake. A way to make Kurt feel sorry for her, fall in love with her even more.

Okay, one thing that is bothering me - how come there are no repeated names from year to year in the top 10? or even top 20? Surely if you won you would stand a fair chance of placing the following year. I have emailed kurt asking for information on miranda as he mentioned in his blog that he visited the cognivia site and it contained information on mirnda's height and eye colour, if we know this we can just search for it on the site using a webcrawler.

This seems the easiest method to me, because the height bit is simple text as opposed to searching the names which are randomly generated encrypted strings.

I've used the wget utility to download the entire site onto my hard drive. Easier to manipulate that way. Then I ran a grep to see what runners had dispensations. Here's what i fFound:

oddly, 3 people with dispensations have no medications associated with them. The fField is left blank. I've noticecd a number of minor errors throughout the system. some people have no nametags. and like here some people have no meds. seems benign, tho.

Also, Dakota seems to be a very common name. I've observed no less than 10 people with the name, out of the several thousand I've looked at.

I'm contemplating someway to fFeed all the nametag images into some OCR, which will then read all names and make plaintext. My problem is that I dont have any suitable OCR software on me. (well, that and it's not so much OCR as, like, CR)

Oxxypro - Sounds like some sort of oxygen uptake booster. A little too 'performance enhancing' perhaps, so they must have a really good reason for using it. (Unless it's some sort of male to female hormone... )

Antihistamine - Classical anti-allergy. Probably hayfever.

Gentamacol - Not really sure. The start makes me think of 'Gentamycin', which is an antibiotic drug, and the end makes me think of an anti-fungal. I'm wondering if this is some sort of futuristic 'magic bullet' drug that's been developed?

Corticosteroids - Anti-inflammatory. Probably being used by asthmatics or people with joint problems in this context.

Osteozonta - Something to do with bones. No idea what.

Prosthesis - What it says on the tin

I had a bit of a google... there is a real "OxyPro", but it looks a bit witch-doctory. The others don't exist on this planet, with the exception of the antihistamine and corticosteroids.

As an unuseful aside, gentamicin is made by the bacterium Micromospora purpurea - the species name giving you a clue that it's purple, or in fact the colour of gentian violet, hence the gent- bit of gentamicin. The -micin (or mycin) bit I think is used as an ending on the names of most members of the aminoglycoside family of antibiotics. Not useful really...Gentamacol makes me think of alcamahol...but then most things do

Veritana isn't licenced as a drug in PxC yet, if I recall correctly. The story in the Sentinel was about a successful trial case.

With the stigma attached to Barrow-Feld, it's also unlikely that someone even pretending to have the disease would admit to taking it.
