Good idea on the message, taking the "This is safe" literally. I've seen that done before. I don't know if T=S H=A I=F S=E would work because then T=E. Smile

T would only be E if you kept encrypting letters after you already encrypted them. Once you change T to S, S is left as S. You only change S's that weren't a different letter earlier.

What if this is simply a note from Persephone saying that she logged in on May 1st and that this (possibly meaning either press releases or the newsletter login) is safe for now but won't always be. Or using coded messages on persephone.thehansofoundation.org is safe? Maybe there isn't any action to take regarding this message other than to wait for more.

'Log in at THF.org May 1 This is safe for now'

Could be an email ad? loginSPLATTheHansoFoundation.org?

If you look at it in almost sms text message short hand it could be construed as

"login@thf.org may want this, is safe for now."

LordKinbote

It was just an algebra joke, T=S, and S=E then T=E.

Anyway good idea on the message meaning.

Log in at THF.org May 1 This is safe for now = loginSPLATthehansofoundation.org

It could be indicating that we can communicate with Persephone via email.

Seems like a stretch though. But it would be likely that we'll have some sort of email address to use as a contact eventually.

My first post on a new board and I've killed one... cool. Evil or Very Mad

Joop text box thought. Our little simian friend is moving. Once he slides down into position when the page loads, Joop's right arm points to the secret text box and his right foot is lined up just as neatly with the Active Projects link. And he seems to be swinging it back and forth slightly, perhaps grooving on the delightful music we'll all be hearing in our sleep by monday.

Anyway, somebody pointed out pages ago, there is apparently no way to "Enter" text typed into the box. What if it doesn't need to be entered, what if it unlocks or alters a menu? So I've been playing with this idea, although I doubt we have the crucial info yet to guess a password. Still, this is intriguing, I've tried all kinds of stuff, persephone, missing organs, the numbers, mayday, etc. About half the time when there is text in the box, the MFI link will not function. Only that one, all the others are fine. I will bet we get a password at some point that unlocks that link to a different page or different information on MFI.

Just a quick thought: What if the Persephone code was someone talking TO Persephone? As if to say, "it's safe to logon at this day"? Maybe someone on the inside who was able to get her access to the website? Maybe the Liddy woman whose picture is missing from the board of directors?

Just scheming, it's probably bunk. Maybe Liddy Wales IS Persephone? Wink

A lot of pages are now reporting May 6, not May 1. For the life of me, I could not figure out how you could rotate 1 using either 13 or 18 and get 6. After a long, unnecessary argument with someone, I've figured out how this error was made.

When the original person translated the code from ASCII, they used http://www.rot13.com. The thing about this site is that it does not rotate the numbers. So the 1 in the original code ended up a 1 after rotating. That's fine. A rot code was never meant to rotate numbers, since it's modular.

Someone else decided that the code was rot 18 and changed accordingly. They saw the number and decided it needed to be rotated along with everything else. Assuming it had been rotated when everything else was rotated by 13, the person added 5 to the number to correct the "error".

I now think you're right LordKinbote, here's what I came up with:

ROT13 lookup from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROT13
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz = 26 characters
NOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLMnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklm

if we add in numbers we get this lookup:

ROT18
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789 = 36 characters
NOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLMnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklm5678901234

Notice that the number 1 in the top table corralates to 6 on the bottom

So the spec on http://www.thelostexperience.com is probably right. We need to wait another day for an update.

But if you rot-18 the ascii translated jbo ubs rsnf fv fveG 1 lnZ tub.SEG gn ov tbI you get btg mtk jkfx xn xnwY 1 dfR lmt.KWY yf gn ltA. I still do not see how people are getting the 6. I hope its a 6 but I still don't see how to get to it.

All this is pretty silly, anyway. If we had never gotten this message, we would have been logging in daily to check for updates. All this message has done is made us argue about when we get the next update.

The puzzle is designed to break us apart! Damn you, Lost Experience! Damn you!
