Of course, http://persephone.thehansofoundation.org comes from the person you chat with whenever you enter the password you get from calling 1-877-HANSORG, and pressing the "General" button. You get these numbers-

Now, the person who runs http://thelostexperience.com put these through an ROT13 translator. go there to see what he found out.

Ok, before you start a new thread you might want to make sure that you at least have your info correct. The Persephone page was discovered as a hidden link in the PDF press release that appeared on the homepage of thehansofoundation.org. This has been discussed extensively in that thread. Having said that, it probably is a good idea (for further reference) to have a separate thread for Persephone's page as it might offer as further clues in the future. Carry on....

I agree.

Brace yourselves while I try to fetch every post out of the long thread related to this subdomain. I should have done this on the first day it appeared, treating it like its own website. We might not get this kind of opportunity to get organized very often.

I think I have succeeded. If there are any straggler posts in the original thread that you believe would make more sense in context here, bop me with a private message and I'll see to it.

Errr....yeah...I didn't think it was a good idea to put this in the existing thread, because it's a seperate website.

I'm impressed that y'all know how to decode ASCII and do a ROT cypher but keep something in mind here. This is being done by the same network that brought us Push, Nevada. Keep it simple. Don't overthink it.

True, but remember, this is more or less an experiment for ABC. Expect the unexpect from them. ROT stuff is pretty complex for even the average viewer.

Further more, if their MIS department is even half as productive as there marketing department, they are more then likely datamining the hell out of this. Even more, most likely have a bead on these fourms, tracking as much information as they can.

Merit, that might be the paranoia talking.

And from what I've seen, the sheer buzz of this is exactly what they have wanted.

It may be complex for the average viewer, but then again the average viewer won't even get the connection between the Hanso Foundation commercial and the ARG. My mom is a huge LOST fan, but you should have seen the look on her face when I tried to explain that it was a fake commercial that was a rabbit hole to an Alternate Reality Game. Shocked

But have you seen the other fan websites? People are really out there, with weird scientific theories and stuff. Smart people, but weird. The thing about ARGs is everybody's talents aren't equal, everybody isn't going to have the same experience. Some will be solving puzzles, some will be documenting, moderating, and some will be waiting by a phonebooth in the rain at 7:05am 30 miles from home because a website said an AI with mental issues would call. (Don't worry it was quite a rush.)

But because we are a cooperative group working together for a common goal, we can achieve something great. I've seen it personally happen on two occasions and it is the most remarkable thing to be apart of. Even if I didn't solve the weird math puzzle or decode the the hexidecimal cipher encapsulated in a .gif file, I can use a phone, I can give ideas, I can place myself in the storyline and enjoy watching the plot unfold.

So don't worry about not "getting" certain aspects of the game, but find a way contribute and be involved. The experience will be worth it. Trust me.

I think Hughs email address is hugh.McIntyreSPLATthehansofoundation.org not just 'Mcintyre' - haven't had a reply, but at least it hasn't bounced (48 hrs now)

A thought on Hugh (2 actually)

His voicemail said he was going to be away for two weeks, so possibly nothing can be expected from him for a while as far as callbacks and email replies.

Other thing is, as someone speculated earlier, he wrote the press release with the persephone message. If it was him communicating with her, if he's helping her, if he's looking for a new job (monster resume), hugh may already be pushing up daisies.

Would you send a press release before going out of town for two weeks, so none of the resulting press inquiries would be answered?

For that matter, would you be sending out press releases while you were off on vacation? (The Hanso ad and therefore the phone # did come before the two PRs... something very strange here)[/i]

The numbers at persephone.thehansofoundation.org has changed to:

72 65 83 32 87 73 78 32 72 79 83 84 32 80 67 32 73
78 32 78 73 76 32 85 82 71 69 46 32 56 44 32 110 111
116 32 49 32 97 110 100 32 54 46

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Which is plain ASCII for:

HAS WIN HOST PC IN NIL URGE. 8, not 1 and 6.

Yes, they updated a while ago. In the tradition of the unforums, we split off this topic to discuss the new content. (Sorry we didn't leave a forwarding address.)
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14810
Discussion of the numbers continues there. Discussion about the original state of this website could continue here, but it's rather moot.

And when Persephone changes her one index page *again*, we'll create another topic to discuss that new content. This thread will then drift to the bottom of the stack.

i know 1st of may was last week but here are some related things
(taking into acont i see the philladelpha incendent as relevent)

1898 - Spanish-American War: The Battle of Manila Bay - The United States Navy destroys the Spanish Pacific fleet in the first battle of the war.

1915 - RMS Lusitania departs New York City on her 202nd & final crossing of the North Atlantic. Six days later she'll be torpedoed off the Irish coast with the loss of 1,198 lives

1941 - World War II: German forces launch a major attack on Tobruk.

1945 - Soviet troops raise the Soviet Flag over the Reichstag, in Berlin

1948 - The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) is established, with Kim Il Sung as president.

1956 - The polio vaccine developed by Jonas Salk is made available to the public.

1960 - Cold War: U-2 Crisis – Francis Gary Powers, in a Lockheed U-2 spyplane, is shot down over the Soviet Union, sparking off a diplomatic crisis.

2003 - invasion of Iraq: In what becomes known as the "Mission Accomplished" speech, President George W. Bush declares "major combat operations in Iraq have ended" on board USS Abraham Lincoln off the coast of California.

all these thing could have somthing to do with hanso research or alvar (he was a munntions researcher wasnt he?)

Solution?

I know this is;
a) An old clue
b) A possible trout
c) An old topic

But I didn't find it in a search, and I thought people might like to know. The anagram could be worked out as "whos running this place" - since this was part of the clue that came out on the 8th (I think) I reckon it was that Smile

D'Oh! Yes. This would, in fact, make much more sence in relation to the information revealed. Hopefully, no more overly opened ended anagrams from the PMs. (Or not. They might like to tease us)

Shall we tag this as solved?
