Decompiling the gif gives us a message:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Everyone is doing it well, hence record ensured one with outer ok en counts. If you hoping of somethint to find him, these must look past kind eep smash each five. PX you shall find it.

I think "hence record ensured one with outer ok en counts" is actually "hence record ensured done with broken counts". "somethint" is "some hint", and "past kind eep smash each five. PX you shall find it." is "past skin deep smash each five px. You shall find it."

You're missing a few letters there. The full quote is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Everyone is doing it well, hence record ensured done with broken counts. If you hoping of some hint to find him, these must look past skin deep. Smash each five px. You shall find it.

I think it's referring to the other i[x].gif images (they were interlaced in 5px chunks). I think there'll be something else in them - steganography anyone?

Ok, this is pretty cool, I was away for a bit and didn't get to see this before.

I'm looking at the site and there's a little timer, it has 1:55 or so left, is that the same for everybody? (If this is already mentioned, I'll edit this once I read through)

Trout

Can I acctually trout myself?

Anyway, I think I may play this....

Incidentally, did we decide this is a Lost game in the end? The console is exactly the same as the one on Lost, and the phrase "Are you him?" was used in the program, in this same context, as well.

Ok had a look at that gif again. Both of us were wrong!

It says:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

EVERYONE IS DOING IT WELL, HENCE RECORD ENSURED DONE WITHOUT BROKEN COUNTS. IF YOU HOPING OF SOME HINT TO FIND HIM, THESE MUST LOOK PAST SKIN DEEP. SMASH EACH FIVE PX. YOU SHALL FIND IT.

"Look past skin deep," eh?

i think we really need to NOT put in anything but 227664 and after each 10 minutes....I think we need to pass the message along to the other forum working on this as well. maybe that is what "broken counts" is reffering to.

http://xccr.com/images/ all of the a[x].gif are 5x5 pixels. I tried destegging a few using camoflage...and i get the "either this image needs a password, or is not stegged." I'm not really down with the whole steg process, so maybe someone else wants to give it a try?

But if that's the case, why were we specifically told NOT to enter that code?

so that we would enter it, besides 227664 is the code that gets us the keys and the grid and make the counter go up.

True.

Is it just me or is this getting a bit stagnant already?

These are two points in favor of it being part of the Lost Experience (there's already a forum on unfiction for it, I've never seen Lost myself but I did a little reading) Another one is the Slashdot ID that got us started, "foundme" -- a play on Lost(?).

Against that theory:

-"the numbers" that are significant with that show are 4,8,15,16,23,and 42. since XCCR can only handle 8 digits, at least one of those has to be left off. I've tried a number of combinations of them, and they don't appear to be any of the codes that XCCR is looking for.
- 227664, or any way of breaking that up, has not shown up on Lost -- there are countless blogs out there detailing all of the numbers that have shown up in some significant way on the show.
- Why pull images from this site and the only other forum discussing it, and post them for only a couple of days?

Indeterminate:

- The indonesian connection in the registry. The island in Lost is somewhere in the Pacific, but otherwise Lost seems to connect more with Indian, specifically Hindu things -- Dharma, Namaste, etc.

I never considered it as part of The Lost Experience - just perhaps it's a grassroots based on the same story?

[SPEC] in the readme.txt it mentions teams, maybe we (unfiction) are a team and the other forum is another team and we are to be competing??
