Thanks Reason, hadn't seen this - it downloads pretty swiftly, and I'll probably leave mine open for a little while too.
It's on BitTorrent, which for the uninitiated (Erm. Yes, that would be me then) is one of the latest evolutions in "Peer to Peer" filesharing, needing the small .torrent file (available from that site linked above) and a BT client program. I can only speak for myself, but I find that Azureus is a pretty reliable and idiot-proof client, and can be found here . I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I on the subject will be able to give more advice on alternatives and the intricacies of it - I just about cope with getting hold of the latest US episodes of Lost with it

I bought the DVDs a few months back, but I figured I would download the torrents and leave my client running for a few days to help seed it for others.
Personally, I find Azureus to have too many features to be "idiot-proof," plus I'm not so cool with how it leaves invisible processes running (at least on the OS X version) after you quit the application. I've always found <a href="http://www.bittorrent.com/">the official Bittorrent client</a> to work quite well. For folks on the Mac, <a href="http://transmission.m0k.org/">Transmission</a> works much the same, but is a lot faster (because it is a native binary and not a wrapper around Python scripts.)

It says good things about the ARG 'community' that they would release this on a creative commons licence. Good stuff.

Now, my problem is that I've never managed to get a single torrent to work on my computer (or my old computer for that matter). I tried Azureus - it never actually "opened", even though I could see it was running a process.
Anyway, I'm now trying to use the official Bittorrent client. It all works fine: I the torrent appears in the client... and then nothing. 0.0% done, 0 KB/sec download rate, etcetera. Incidentally, it recognises that the file exists (it can tell that it's 153MB, for instance) but the Peer List is totally empty.
Anyone with any ideas on how I can get things cooking?

I tend to find turning to oven to about 200 degrees works for me!

Are you behind a firewall? If so make sure you have the correct ports open. That or go to Wikipedia and look for a bittorrent FAQ that should troubleshoot it....

Guy (or indeed anyone else struggling to get this working) - I recommend PortForward.com which gives step-by-step in depth descriptions for a wide range of equipment. Helped me out greatly.

Hey guys and gals, talk about drudging up threads from the past.
I was hoping some people that downloaded the ARGFest DVD torrents would be able to seed them just for a bit. I'm wanting to get them to give to someone for use in an ARG doco project. I've been finding it doesn't go very fast with 0 peers and 0 seeds.
Cheers

I've put them both back up now, can't guarantee how fast you'll be able to get them, but I should be able to keep them up all day today and tomorrow.
