Except, those are not organs... Wink

@Chief
That's the weirdest thing...how does one get such an idea?
You said they refered to it as a map somewhere...could you tell us (or me) where?
I see no clues as to any of those ideas. None at all. I'd say chances are pretty slim that this picture becomes another picture in a different way. That said, I think the polar coordinate thingy is a coincidence...probably every second picture looks that way if you "round it up".

I was thinking about the dots up there as part of writing, earlier ago. It could be just artifacts of some sort, because there were some dark spots up there in the original picture (if there is one, that is).
I doubt that the whole picture is some kind of code (binary or else), because I imagine it to be tricky to turn into a real picture, too.

"Not looking at it the right way"...not that it's some association we have to make, like "faceless" or something and put that in the URL?
Happy guessing, then. I don't think so. But for now, I'm at a loss.

Elephant??
What are you talking about? Confused

If the picture itself is a clue to a person, perhaps we should also note the that he appears to have on a tie. The only person on the Hanso bios that appears to have a tie on is Alvar.

Food for thought.

Another stray longshot: Anyone know how to go about adding up the number of dark pixels in each column of the image, which would then give us a string of numbers?

Ok, I'm going to throw this out there....

<WildAssSpec> Perhaps the picture is a person, who's name is the username for the BoD bios, and the file name is the password?</WildAssSpec>

Now, just need to figure out who it's a picture *of*...

For the dots across the top of the image, not counting any white pixels above the dots, and not counting how many white pixels are between the dots horizontally, counting the pixels gives:

2 2 1 2 2 2 2 2 6 2 2 3

The number of 2-pixel sets makes me think either this is just random artifacts as Abraxas pointed out (but then why not clean them up? to mess with us?) or it's not the dots themselves? Counting the white pixels between the dots gives:

8 1 7 17 5 15 18 12 4 5 12
(12 from the last dot to the edge of the image)
converted to text this is HAGQEORLDEL (which sadly seems like nonsense to me...)

(I'm not avoiding work or anything! Smile )

Along those lines, how about 'saving face' or something along those lines?

ALS in the pic filename could stand for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease..

just a thought

I just tried all the execs as username and password "q9als2002.
In three ways, for instance
jacobvanderfield
jacob vanderfield
jvanderf (lycgy/usr folder format)

Nothing.

I think that guy looks similar to Jacob Vanderfield. Complete with tie (somebody had missed that before, I think).

I know you are all saying you see an Elephant - but my initial reaction upon seeing the mapped image, was that it was the Hanso Foundation logo. The one that looks a bit like a ying-yang. Am I way off base here?

Yup, tried that yesterday night, just after realizing that: 1) the silhouette of the guy in the pic could be consistent with Lawrence Peck (haircut, forehead & ear looks similar), and 2) the /usr directory gives us usernames that can very well be used in the "Executive Bios" form.
No luck, of course, but somehow I still have the feeling that we're gonna use that form very soon.
(By the way: I remember that somebody was decompiling lots'o'flash, do we know if that form is functional or if it's just set to always return "invalid user/password" no matter what we input?)

Since nobody's posted it yet and I got quizzical looks for talking about an elephant...

I do think it looks like the Hanso / Dharma logos, but my opinion is that it's definitely an elephant, not a yin-yang.

Edit: stray tag.

Heh, I tried very, very hard to not see the yingyang, mostly because it's the sort of answer that if wrong would lead us waaaaayyyy down the wrong path, or stop all solving for a while.

Is it possible that because we've found this 'at last'... that something happened between this and the Peter Thompson stuff? Perhaps this somehow also gives the answer of 'Survivor Guilt'?

Other tactics

Since people have pretty much exhausted the photoshopping, squinting, flipping, options for this picture, maybe we could try some different tactics?

I have no idea what to look for, but perhaps "not looking at it right" means we need to be looking for hidden information in the code of the picture file itself. I don't even know what to look for. I opened the file with notepad and all I can read is gif89a, which doesn't seem helpful. Any ideas?

I don't know what the keywords are, but my SPEC is that the next clue will be about a location -- we know where the Hanso headquarters are, but perhaps they have "another hole" somewhere else?

Come on, do you really think you have to use polar coordinates on a gif after the mild challenges you've had so far?
That seems completely out of the blue. Looks vaguely like an elephant, but so does every tenth cloud or something...
(and yes, I was thinking you were seeing a yin-yang there...had no clue what you were talking about regarding the elephant)
I think this is much simpler, but I have no better idea right now. Embarassed
