I looked at the site for the show which starts with a two hour premiere tomorrow - the time is 8pm/7 Central. The regular show will be Mondays at 9pm/8 Central. And of course it is on NB.

My question: is the only on-line portion of this the part that is played along during the broadcast?

Edited to add - there seems to be two parts - one $200,000 challenge and one $10,000 challenge.

Does anyone have more information about what we will be doing?

I clicked on the link for the $200,000 challenge which took me to this link:

http://www.nbc.com/Treasure_Hunters/game/

The book opens, the door opens and then closes saying that it starts on Sunday. The book says that the $200,000 challenge requires getting clues each week and combining them successfully for a chance to win the prize.

I clicked on the link for the $10,000 challenge and got this link:
http://www.nbc.com/Treasure_Hunters/playwin/register.shtml

which says that it is only available during the broadcast

My second question: is there an IRC channel for this, and if so, what is it?

main link: http://www.nbc.com/Treasure_Hunters/

We need to be like the parts of a car. Sure the parts like the tiers and the gas tank that takes 40 bucks to fill get used all the time. But think of the seatbelt. Seemingly useless most of the time, but when we need them it saves our lives.

I'm not asking everyone to be the gas tank, but you should at least be the seatbelts!

I hereby declare us "Team Seatbelt". Very Happy

Hence, IRC shall be in #teamseatbelt of course Smile Wink

Anyways, i'm in, but i'm a seatbelt. Because i suck at puzzles Smile

[EDIT:] Gasp, a Treasure Hunters board! http://www.nbc.com/boards/TreasureHunters/

Ok, lets go flood that board with unfictioners!

Just so people know what is meant by the game has started.

You can now register when you enter here:

http://www.nbc.com/Treasure_Hunters/game/

Listen to the intro (or not, you can skip it) and click on the book to register. When your registration is accepted the door will open and you can then open another book that takes you to a challenge. And the first page has many symbols on it.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I haven't the time to get into the challenge atm, but I did get the insurance certificate. All you have to do is click on it. You also get a link to the first challenge and a book that will keep you answers for you. Edit to add: I completed it actually very quickly- like most games like this, look around everywhere and take stuff with you.

Actually the answer above is missing something:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The location is Queen Charlotte Island, where the tree stood on the banks of the Yukon river until a crazy and hateful person destroyed it.
Turn clock to noon. Note time on map.
Wait for Raven.
Dig, find where the treasure stands.

After completing the challenge you can then register to enter a guess. You can enter one guess today and one tomorrow after 9pm.
Note the challenges seem to correspond to the dates of the show. The first two of which are today 8pm Eastern and tomorrow.

You have to get at least one correct answer to get a chance to be one of the ten finalists.

There was a sign on the way to Mt. Rushmore - something along the lines of "Rush to the artifact." On the sign was a company; it was something finance...does anyone remember the name of it? If there's a more serious online component for us ARG nerds, that could be a rabbithole...or just another sponsor (HELLO MOTO LOL.)

It's "Rush to where the treasure stands," just like our clue. The company is Genworth Financial, the same sponsor that was in the retarded book.

This was part of the show.

The contestants had to go to Mount Rushmore to find the first artifact in the game. There were 9 there, and the 10th group was eliminated.

Nothing online / ARG here except for the $200,000 game they have on their main site.

Just to keep people from getting too confused:

That answer is for the "$10,000 text message" game.

There is also the $200,000 online game.

As for that, I have no idea what the artifact or the game board represent, and I haven't the foggiest idea what to guess on the location based on the first clue.

I haven't researched this yet, but I was assuming that there is a location on Queen Charlotte Islands where some well known totem poles can be found. I thought that the map was showing us where the treasure stands. I mean I thought the location that we dug up the treasure was the answer as to "where." Now to correlate that with an actual location.

Was I the only one who thought that the signs that said "Rush to where the Treasure stands" were digitally inderted? They looked pretty fakey/CG to me.
