[EVENT] USA Swap Meet Washington DC October 21st, 2006

Well folks this is more of a filler than anything at the moment. I'm going to set a preliminary date of Saturday, October 21st for our Wave 4 swap meet gathering in the DC area. All of those who made the June 10th meet will be relieved to know that it'll be the same house, same rules. Hopefully this time we can get more than 9 folks to show up... I know there's got to be more than that in the VA/DC/MD/PA/WV area. I'm ready to use the house again, hopefully this time we can meet long enough to have some games, contests, etc...

This date has a slight possibility of moving depending on when Wave 4 is released, but for now October 21st is _The_ day to come, eat, drink, play, trade, etc. I will do my damnedest to make sure that we've got a bunch of great door prizes, but I'll leave the details until we've got a month to go. If you're 100% sure that you want to come no matter what Saturday it'll be held, I'll let you volunteer your services/foodstuff/drinks further in advance.

Let's try and make this one twice the size of our June 10th gathering, shall we? More details to come as more info is released!

Thanks
Erik

Swap swap swap CARDBOARD SHURIKEN!

I got a feeler from Fiona Silk at Mind Candy today, hopefully that means I've got my timeframe for this meet somewhere near my 2-3 months post-Wave 4 release. I will repeat the rules so folks don't have to run back through the old June swap meet thread to find them-

1) If it's not yours, don't even pick it up - I know this should be common courtesy, but it has to be said. This policy extends to anything and everything in and around the house, especially other guest's property.

2) Do not go upstairs - nothing will be happening up there, and the cats will be locked up for the day. I would rather that than have them freaking out around so many people, especially the kitten. If you're allergic to cats, please let me know so I can start cleaning now and we can avoid allergic reactions. That said, I have plenty of Benadryl (pollen allergies) so if worse comes to worse, I am prepared.

3) No smoking inside the house - there is a covered patio in the front and a semi-covered deck in the back.

4) Parking is at a premium - the house is on a cul-de-sac, so there's room for a total of maybe 6 cars. If we fill up, I'll be glad to arrange for transport to/from a parking lot nearby. We managed to fit 8 cars last time with room for one more in the driveway, but we were down 2 cars on what we planned for at the house.

5) Drinking - Light alcoholic beverages (beer, wine coolers, etc...) will be made available ONLY if you are 21 years of age or older, so please exhibit some self-control. If you have too much to drink, your keys will be confiscated, and you will be driven to a local hotel to stay at your own expense.

6) Behavior - This is my home. If you can't behave socially, you will be asked to leave. This includes fighting, breaking any of the above rules, and general asshattery, so follow the rules as if you were in your mother's home, and we should be alright.

I will be posting the address as we get closer to the date of the event. If you plan to show, please please please RSVP so I can make accomodations. As it stands now, the house is NOT wheelchair accessible, but we can work that out if need be.

All this being said, if you know this far in advance, please do RSVP soon, and let me know if we need to make accomodations, I'll be as flexible as I can. This means that whomever the vegan was that emailed me about the June meet - If you don't want to see meat, close your eyes. We'll probably end up ordering out from a local Italian/Greek restaraunt if the weather doesn't work out for grilling, and my food of choice from them is a Stromboli Calzone packed with meat.

If you do RSVP, please let me know what you plan to bring, and I'll put you on the list. I'll be letting you know a range of the number of people to bring stuff for so we can have a good idea of what needs to be brought.

I'll try to be sure I've got door prizes to hand out, but this all depends on my financial situation, which at the time is, let's say - a touch tight. DiG really helped out with this last time, bringing a full box of booster packs to hand out, which worked out REALLY well! 36 packs and we ended up with 6 silvers between us!

Thanks!

My only concern at the moment would be that perhaps October may be a bit late, depending on how the last card wave and story progresses..but I'll be there Smile

I'll also be in SF in a month!

The meet is on!

October 21st, beautiful Sterling, VA, be there or be square

With the release of Wave 4 last week, I just noticed how broke I am, so I will need time to get some door prizes together. No worries, come on down and let's make with the swapping! Hopefully October 21st will bring good weather, and we can get down to partay-time on the side.

See above for rules and such, I will be reposting directions as we get closer to the date.

PLEASE RSVP to me and let me know what of the following you can bring. I will update the list as I get RSVPs

Food for grilling - burger meat, hot dogs, etc
Support for grilled food - individual sliced cheese, condiments, buns, etc
Food for snacking - chips, dips, etc
Drinks - non-alcoholic
Drinks - light alcoholic (beer, wine coolers, etc)
Plates, Napkins, Cups

and I will let you know how much of what to bring if you say you can bring anything

Thanks!
Erik

I'm happy to help out. More than I did last time. I'll contribute a door prize. Food. Wine. Do we really have to wait that long? Maybe late September?

October 21st

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to do any weekends before the 21st (traveling for my job) and it looks like everything after the 21st (yes even after Thanksgiving) will be more of the same. Sorry guys, if I'm hosting, or even coming, it's got to be the 21st unless you want to wait for the new year.

Erik

P.S.
My address has just changed to Virginia Beach so if there is any trades/changes that I can help with please let me know!! I'll be here for 1 year so please use me for all I got!!

I'll be posting an address about a week beforehand. Knowing that it's in Sterling, VA will get you within 3 miles of the meet, as far as directions go. You could also hop over to the thread that was posted for June 10th to find out in the meantime if you wish.

Thanks!

Hiya! I thought I'd use my first post here to say I'll be there with bells on! I've already emailed, and I'm hoping to meet some nice people that understand my addiction. Wink

Got quite a few cards to trade, and happy to bring along some grilling stuff!
