[Update] City of Angels

Keith has added another link to 3-0-7 called City of Angels. Who's around LA that can help him out?

Quote:
City of Angels

I may need someone with access to the City of Angels very, very soon. It seems the person I sent the next item to, the face with the leaves, is somewhat freaked out by it and this whole crazy affair. He said he hasn't really had the time to examine it or think about how it fits into what he knows and went through, but his message to me letting me know he received it didn't sound happy at all.

I was hoping he'd be able to shed some light on what's going on - what's the big freakin' deal with these things and why someone would be willing to kill for them. From the stuff that was on that CD and from what Dale back in Aglaura told me, this guy sounded like he might have been the answer to my prayers. But I'm afraid I may have just dragged another unwilling person into my mess from his initial response.

And now I'm afraid of what he might do with what I sent him. If it's bugging him out already, I don't know if I can count on him to keep it safe for me after all.

So, is anyone able to get into the City of Angels for me with just a little notice to make a retrieval if I need it? I'm going to have to make a call in the next day or two, so it may be during this week yet.

I'm the only one of my group at work that doesn't live in the LA area. They range from Lancaster down to Carlsbad and Malibu to Sunland. If you can't make it at a certain time, I may be able to arrange a back-up.
Now... I just need to find a way to explain this to them Shocked

Update http://www.three-o-seven.com/damn.html

Quote:

damn

I knew it. You warned me. Many of you warned me. Fucking stupid old man.

I was up all night, couldn't sleep, the old insomnia kicking in like a cup of Momma's percolated coffee on a cold morning. Weighing pros and cons, considering options, that shit doesn't stop in my mind just 'cause I close my eyes. So I ended up crashing this afternoon for awhile, on top of the motel bedspread with the curtains pulled as shut as I could manage them. They were fairly heavy and dark, but the damn things just wouldn't quite sit right so that no matter how I futzed with them, there was always one ray of light shining through into the room. Exhaustion has its benefits though, and I finally managed to doze off at some point.

I woke up to screaming, from outside somewhere, and jumped to my feet, wide awake in a moment. A careful glance out the curtains showed a naked woman standing in the parking lot, a stained blanket wrapped not so carefully around her. She was pointing at the wide open door to room 129, screaming the whole time. It hit me almost instantly - room 129. Shit. That was the room I was in originally, until I bitched about the bad smell in the room and the clown behind the counter switched me a few doors down.

As I watched, two men in suits came out of the room, and ignored the woman, heading instead back towards the motel office in the other direction. Luckily, I hadn't unpacked a thing, and my car was parked around the other side of the motel. Just before the two goons went into the office, while their backs were still fully turned to me, I bolted and ran the other way, around the edge of the building. I never looked back and was flying down the highway a couple of minutes later.

Someone tipped them off, sent them after me. I can't be sure, but I think that was the same two freaks from the Pine Barrens, the ones who gave Brad a new perspective on life. Or death, actually.

That's it, old man, joke. Laugh. It keeps you from thinking about what a fuck up you are. I stopped long enough to write this up and post it, but I'm putting hundreds of miles between me and New Jersey before I stop now.

I know people who want to find me are probably reading this; I hope it pisses them off that I got away. But I'm not telling them where I'm going. If you're my friend, then this should tip you off:

Hot ____ - ___ masks - have a ____

If you are down there or know anyone who is that might be able to help me, please email me.

I messed around with this and saw it this way. Not that it means anything. But adding it just in case.

Hot ____ - ____ mask - have a ____

Hot cold - pack mask - have a get a.

And the way I read this is:

have a hot mask
get a cold pack

Taking the first letters you get.

H - A - H - P
G - A - C - P

The bottom row could be referencing College Park, Georgia or Peachtree City, Georgia.

Not that this is correct, but posted just in case.

An observation:

There are four underscores in the first blank, three in the second, and four in the third.

I surmise that we are looking for a four-letter word, a three-letter word, and a four-letter word. My guess is that each completes a phrase, and that the three missing words together spell out -- or, more likely, sound out -- the name of Keith's next destination.

(And I can't help wanting to put "six" in the three-letter slot before "masks"...)

I agree with "fill in the blanks". Typing out loud here.

But not sure about the relative length of words.

"Have a heart" is my first guess - but not sure of any place that has that in the name.

What are typical starting names? New, North, South? None seem to match "Hot____". Unless the three pieces together make a single word.

His clue mentioned "If you're my friend, then this should tip you off".
So, maybe there is something in his previous missives (either his common emails or posted on 3-0-7)?

"Have a heart" was my second thought - my first was "Have a ball", which would fit the four-letter idea. However, there a lot of phrases that would fit. "Have a seat". etc... Seat might be a possibility, in the sense of a county seat, but doesn't seem likely.

Now I can't think of anything but "six" for the second slot. Wink

Apparently Keith knows we're having trouble figuring this one out. He's added a couple of graphics to the damn.html page.

So it goes like this:

Hot / tea

six / mask

have a / _______

the letters left over from AUSTIN TEXAS are AUSTN
but I can't think of a word that makes.

[edit] I think I got this one now

Hot / teas or seat -> (suggested by Rogi) Hot/tuna ->(suggested by Drizjr in reference to Jorma)

six / mask

have a / aunt or tuna or utan or ???? have a / seat ->(suggested by Drizjr)

So we have Hot/Tuna, Six/Masks, Have a/Seat.

And (tuna, six, seat) anagram to Austin, Texas

Well anyway anyone live near Austin, Texas

As for the pictures I guess the thing pointed to on the globe must be referring to AXIS

Take that out of Austin, Texas and the left over letters are AUSTNTE but haven't a clue what it makes and how it relates to that pic of the man.

Now I know it is Tetanus

So Tetanus + Axis anagrams to Austin, Texas.

So anyone living there or close to it or can get there needs to email Keith for the next instructions on where to meet up.
