I'm going to send a CV in for the assistant job.

I'd show you all the cool CV I made but it's got some personal details on it... So you'll have to take my work for it, it's cool.

You could blank out the details? Very Happy

I 'applied' for the Art Therapist job, but didn't send a CV with it. May do another email with it in;
Quote:
Dear Sirs,

I'm enquiring about the Art Therapist/Psychologist job advertised on your
website. I am currently located in England, but would be willing to travel. I
am a keen Psychologist, and feel that i would do well in this line of work.

Please reply with further details,

Yours Sincerely,
Jenna *********

I signed on as D.Cheever with the same password and it worked too. I'm beginning to think it doesn't matter what name you use.

Of note, Vanderfeld and Peck were busted in 1986, which is an interesting time because, according to the guy saying he was Hugh McIntrye (yeah, sure he is) on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Hanso Foudation shut down the Dharma Project in 1987.

Relating to the hansocareers website, why would an "art therapist/phychologist" need to know "applied mathematics"?

Yeah that's right, you don't actually need to put in any name at all. It's just the password that's needed.

Maybe... If I get a response. Wink

On the HansoCareers.com site - there is an ad for Monster.com in the bottom right hand corner. If you click on it, you get a standard Monster.com site.

But did anyone else notice this?

When you search for Hanso, you get this listing: http://jobsearch.monster.com/getjob.asp?JobID=43477971
&AVSDM=2006%2D05%2D25+05%3A36%3A38&Logo=1&q=hanso&cy=us

This is different then the jobs posted on day one of the site, and the job is open TODAY!

i think that job posting is for a real job, and not part of the game.

Looks that way to me too, but it does mention both 'DHARMA' and 'HANSO.' I haven't heard any theories of those two terms having much real-world meaning.

I still wouldn't apply for that one though, looks very real.

But it states "Must be trained in HANSO." This is not for a real job. I am sure that this is either a fan creation, or in game.

I've e-mailed the contact person, and I hope to hear something back today.

found in the mainpage source.

I don't see that anybody has addressed this, but these seem to be Monster.com codes, and so are probably not in-game. The numbers 2-8-46-2990-51 are job codes and match the same codes for the same jobs listed in the source of the Monster page that you go to if you click on the "Powered by" button on hansocareers.

The 26998-22975-18248-33713-1900 numbers are *probably* Monster location codes, but there is one strange thing: The dropdown menu on the Monster page doesn't include international locations, so most of them you can't verify, but the one location that you can check, CA-Santa Barbara, has a code of 1900 on the hansocareer site and a code of 357 on the Monster site. Dunno what that means, if anything...

Interesting find. Also, check out the first line of the Job Description...

"Molecular Biology Research Associate, In Vitro Diagnostics - Orange County, CA"

Hmm...

Where have we heard about "In Vitro" before?

I didn't see this mentioned, but trout me if it was: the art therapist/psychologist job is located in Vik, Iceland. The Mental Health Appeal just opened up the Vik Institute, with the "inquire today" box. Maybe there's something significnt on this page http://www.hansocareers.com/3.asp

Following up on this, "In Vitro Diagnostics" appears to be a real company in Irvine, and this furthermore appears to be a legitimate job ad. But this begs the question as to why "Hanso" and "Dharma" would be listed in the job descriptions. More to the point, it suggests that these two words do have something to do with genetics in the real world...not just the in-game world. While this may be totally out of game, at the same time it seems to tie this stuff together.

If you search for DHARMA or HANSO now, you get no results. This is definitely a real company, http://www.cyberscientific.com/developer/profile/jobBoardApply.aspx?jump=1&menu=0
&ad=MSJeff&posId=JS-MBRA-IVD&cookies=true
the website it directs you to is registered to Cybercoders.com, which is a placement agency.

I can't imagine that this is in game, especially since they seem to have deleted it from the search results on Monster.com

I sent the recruiter an email asking him why those words appeared in the job posting. I'll let you know what I hear back, if anything.

[Edit:] If you search on Monster.com for in vitro, you get a listing that's just like the earlier listing, but without DHARMA and HANSO listed. I think it was this guy's idea to get more traffic to his posting.

Dharma appears to be an actual term associated with genetics. Here's some links to get an idea of what I'm talking about...

Dharma = zebrafish homeobox gene

I also found this quote from a different page...

"The zebrafish bozozok locus encodes Dharma, a homeodomain protein essential for induction of the gastrula organizer and dorsoanterior embryonic structures."

We can really use a doctor of genetics or biotechnology to help us understand this stuff. Not just this, but there certainly seems to be a connection to this ARG and the field of genetics. It wouldn't surprise me if we ultimately have to break down a model of a human genome to figure out a future clue.

As for the word "Dharma," it's almost always related to one of the two things. Capitalized it refers to the combined teachings of Budha. Lowercase it's a phrase used in both Budhism and Hinduism to define the very concept of reality. The word literally translates as "the way things are," but it's also a word with deeper meanings implying both our material and spiritual existence, the sense of mental awareness, moral responsibility, and universal truths. The word also stresses direct observation and individual experience over speculation and assumed or traditional beliefs. It's also a state of mind that can be experienced with insight through meditation.

As far as the word "Hanso," I'm not having much luck at all connecting it to genetics aside from there being several doctors in the field with the same last name.
