PXC video competition details

The official rules have been posted on the perplexcity website at http://perplexcity.com/community/competitions/video/index.qbuild .

Quote:

HOW IT WORKS

The deadline for video submissions is now upon us, and it's time to show your cinematic masterpieces to the world! Uploading is a pretty simple process, but make sure you follow these instructions carefully to be sure you qualify:

* Sign up at YouTube.
* Upload your video (this involves confirming your email address)
* Tag your video "perplexcity" (so we can find it) and "competition" (so we know you want to take part) but additional tags are fine too.
* Don't forget you need to claim your video by including your user name somewhere in the video descripion or video credits.
* Visit the Perplex City Group and join up.
* Add your video to the group!
* Email us at videocompetitionSPLATperplexcity.com to let us know it's up.

...and you're done! Feel free to carry out this process in an evening dress or a tuxedo, to give it that "World Premiere" feel.

The videos will be rated and watched by the public for two weeks. (Feel free to run your own promotional campaign to drum up interest.) The film with the most 'views' at 5pm BST on Thursday 8 June will be declared the ubervideo, king of all digital films, and winner of the top prize as described above.

Youtube.com accepts most digital video formats, including .AVI, .MOV and .MPG.

The second- and third-highest rated videos (and entries Mind Candy thinks are terrific) will be eligible for runners-up prizes, at the discretion of Mind Candy.

The prize-winning videos will be hosted at perplexcity.com for the amusement of all.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's entries. Very Happy

Edited to add: Here's a link to the group's videos. Laughing

Team Berdoingg's movie (one of two so far uploaded) has 97 views already! It was also uploaded three days ago. Where are the UN elections inspectors when you need them?

There were two uploaded early, Xena and Team Berdoingg....I'm sure that Mind Candy were paying attention, and as per their website:-

Quote:
# Is there an advantage to finishing early?
There is no advantage to having your video finished early - we'll release instructions for all the videos to be uploaded to YouTube on the same day and will count views during the same two week period for all entries. (Added 2 May 2006)

They'll undoubtedly be discounting the views from prior to about 16:30pm today...50 odd for the former, 90 for the latter.

Anyway. We all know that the Pirates and Ninjas will be having none o'this cheating malarkey! Arrrr! Smile

While I think it's clear my alliance is with the pirates and their luscious beards, I will admit a soft spot for certain ninjas. Wink

Can't wait to get home to see these - and upload mine. Incidentally the Pirates & Ninjas one doesn't show up when you search for the tag 'perplexcity' - perhaps it takes a while to work its way onto the index.

I know they're The Enemy and all that, but I really like Team Berddoing's movie. It's most sweet!

Now that's what I call sweet 59

'Marbles' is brilliant as well. And the 'players mind' creme egg one was very funny as well.

They are all very good.

*whine* I can't wait to watch them! I'm not watching them until I finish editting mine though. Even though I likely won't upload it because I won't get it done until maybe Monday at the soonest, I don't want to watch the others until I see how mine finally turns out.
