Mr. Beefy-
you downloaded the scaled version. You have to click on the image in his original post and copy the full size version- I did that at first and the words are clearly visible in the eye just by zooming in in paint.

Maybe the pic was taken away to focus us on the filename.
T9 (like Q9) is a method for entering text with a cellphone keypad. Maybe someone with a T9-enabled phone could try entering agen75 to see if any interesting words come out.
One meta reason to think that something like this might be right is that we know Verizon is a sponser but hasn't had any obvious airtime. Forcing us to learn how to use newfangled cellphone systems could jive with the way advertising has been implemented so far.

When I enter it into my phone, T-9 style, I get "chems"

If I push the buttons that corrispond to the letter (I.E. 2 twice for a B), I get "Bidenossl"

You have to look at the similarities q9als2002.gif and t9agen75.gif
If we look at them both, we get (letter)+9a+(letters)+(numbers)
This would seem to negate the T-9 or Q-9 speculation.

when looking for anagrams, one caught my eye
"Bless Odin"
Don't know how it would pertain to anything, but it's there.

I think the picture looks a bit like our friend, Dick Cheever of the BoD of the Hanso Foundation. Not the same picture, but a resemblence. Does anyone if that is also a stock photo, becasue if it is than it is unlikely that I am right.

I think the theory that Q9/T9 indicate numeric keypad text input methods is extremely sound... It makes a good puzzle if this somehow translates to another text string. The Verizon reference is a good point, too. There is a repeat episode of Lost tonight, I now fully expect us to get a Hanso ad sponsored by Verizon.
Q9 is even linked to on the T9 Wikipedia page,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictive_text
which for me takes the relationship between the 2 filenames well beyond just coincidence.
There is a "T9 trainer game" at the site http://www.textfast.t9.com/t9trainer/Web/trainer.htm which lets you try out a predictive text keyboard in T9 mode as a Java applet simulation. However I still can't get anything meaningful out of either agen750 or als2002 even in light of all this... Typing in "agen750" produces "ages", "bids", and "aids" (clicking down to scroll through valid words) as 3 of the characters are basically ignored. Strange. Maybe try the other languages? I don't have a Q9 keypad or simulator...

Doing the 2 entire filenames (with the hole2 one first) in that t9 thing got "system". *shrug*

Hi there, Matt the Pale here. How did you figure out which numbers to punch into the phone? I'd like to know your method.

I don't know if this is significant, but if you look at the HTML for this page there are a whole bunch of blank lines between the + and the 1. The + is on the first line, the 1 is on line 84.

For the letters, I used the corresponding number on the phone. ABC=2, DEF=3, and so on. For the numbers, uhh, like for 2002 I put in "2-0-0-2".
I doubt this is anything other than a coincidence, but it doesn't hurt.

hmm So let's say for a second that we do focus on the text that is hidden by the eye, "save me." A thought popped in my head that perhaps this could be related to joop in some way.. 'save joop.' Maybe we enter something somewhere on the joop page.. just an idea, i've been trying stuff and nothing so far so let me know if anyone finds anything.
