Perhaps this whole thread is really all just a subtle arg itself. The alternate reality of META WARS! How's that for realistic? Razz
(should we move this thread to ARG's with potential?)
heh heh. Now THAT would really be something. My bet is that as soon as that would happen ('official' ARG-status) it would implode. Nobody would get that excited about it if it was 'only' an ARG.

I have been ISP-less for a week now, and was unable to follow this discussion. Didn't realize it was a hot-button topic.

I really appreciate all of your answers, definitions, and cute little quips. I think I understand now the general mentality that the lack of definition is important to an ARG/ARE. I am thoroughly enjoying comments from experienced players and look forward to hearing more.

Remember that, regardless of definition, I still find this game/experience/ad campaign/thingie fun and that whether or not it is an ARG, I will continue to play. (Once the stupid internet installer guy comes to my house anyway. I hate these internet cafe places. BLAH!)

Wow, briljant in it's simplicity. Food for some more 'chewing' I guess but it is right.

Not so much hot button, just one sure to get a lot of conversation going every time it is mentioned. Each person has their own personal set of requirements for what they feel an ARG is, and while we have a lot of area that overlaps in the center, it's the edges where you will find the widest differences. I don't see anything wrong with discussing those differences, as I think it helps to hash out some of the ideas and see where things go from there.

Orbital Colony: The website design/content was not consistent with the entities represented. Left me wanting something more realistic which doesn't remind me of templates, which is fine for a game but wouldn't happen in real life.

^shrug^ We were inexperienced PM. Most of of the team had never worked as BTS or as PM to a game before. We learned a lot, which was the purpose of the game for the PM team. We hoped to make it fun for people, but if we missed a few of you, maybe the next game will suite you better. ^shrug^

Thank you ScarpeGrosse, for defending us all!
