[OOG] http://www.squidoo.com/phi-eri/ and Paik-heavy.com

hi all !
please excuse my rudeness at posting a whole new topic ( i will gladly trout myself if i am wrong ) but has anyone else seen this blog site :

http://www.squidoo.com/phi-eri/

if you go to http://www.paik-heavy.com/ you will see that the status of the job number 4815162342 ( lost numbers ) hasbeen upgraded to 5 from 3. also, the links from the numbers now go to www.sublymonal.com which i had already seen thanks to this site, and a new blog :
http://www.squidoo.com/phi-eri/
which claims to be Peter Thompsons blog, there are only a few posts from today, all in binary, ( except the titles which are in a number code that i do not understand )which decode to something like :

1.02 am
Communication protocol compromised. Some future messages posted here.
1.51 am
Heir Apparent
1.52 am
P-H.com use the numbers

and an update in the last few minutes ( not in binary )

3.12 am
To Status Level Blue-1 in 4 hours.

can anyone confirm if this is a fan site or not ?

also if you go to the links on the blog, it sends you to

http://www.paik-heavy.com/4815162342.htm
which also has links to
http://www.paik-heavy.com/4815162343.htm
http://www.paik-heavy.com/4815162344.htm

has anyone translated these numbers yet ( i am a thicko ! )

also , again, many apologies if this has been spotted, i could not find anything on the forums about it yet , , , Shocked

Cheers all !

As I personally don't feel that paik-heavy.com is in-game, I will also make the jump that this blog is not in-game.

While I appreciate TINAG, I also look for TIAG indicators on websites, to filter out all of the fan stuff. I see no such indicators here.

Last entry at Phi-Eri

The title of the post - 4161624788 - is the number of one of the contractors listed in the table at http://www.paik-heavy.com/. As you can see, the status has indeed changed to Blue-1.

Any good ideas for establishing whether or not these sits are OOG? Most people seem to think OOG, and for good reason, but no one seems sure.

Well, I'm not much better at decoding, but I can tell you that on the

http://www.paik-heavy.com/persephone.htm

page, the numbers are of increasing base but are not the same.

That is, the first number is binary (base 2) so only 0s and 1s.
The second number is base 3, only 0s, 1s, and 2,
...
and so on. However, the base 9 number is missing.

If we take the first number 100011111000000011000000000000000 and turn it into a familiar decimal, it is 4815159296

Also, after the decimal number 2051040811 is a base 12 number (it has a's and b's in it), so base 11 is skipped without leaving a blank like the missing base 9 number.

All other numbers conform to this notion.

Base 16 (hexadecimal) is as far as I can go. That would be digits 0-9 and A-F.

The crappy Microsoft calculator is unable to accept that many digits for the binary or hex number.

I hope someone makes something out of these numbers.

okay. this is annoying, I don't know how to tell if it's officially OOG or not.

I found this in the source code:

http://www.paik-heavy.com/east_man.htm

I searched the forum for "east_man" and came up with one result for "Eastman Kodak" so I assume either no one has posted this or cares.

If it's ingame, it's interesting. I'm just not quite clever enough to figure that out.

east_man

OK, if you go to: http://www.paik-heavy.com/east_man.htm you get this message: (Spoiler-tagged, as a courtesy)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

http://www.paik-heavy.com/east_man.htm:
Sorry it didn't work out, it was a group try. If you see an oval rash you must deal with it immediately. Or at least check the source.

There wasn't much we could do about the open sphere. She was on a phone spree and we had to get out of there.

104 116 116 112 58 47 47 119 119 119 46 112 97 105 107 45 104 101 97 118 121 46 99 111 109 47 110 97 109 97 115 116 101 46 104 116 109

The last line is ASCII code, translates as: http://www.paik-heavy.com/namaste.htm

At that address you get this message:

Previous list compromised. Previous list compromised.

Urgent message

Assistance needed

The last line (assistance needed) is a link to this page: http://www.paik-heavy.com/php/a.php
which merely is a text box to enter your email address, and a Go button.

I entered mine and hit go, leading to this page: http://www.paik-heavy.com/php/c.php
Giving this message: You will be contacted soon.

Will post when I get an email.

FYI, viewing source on these pages reveals no other links, etc. However, if you try to get into the php directory by entering http://www.paik-heavy.com/php/ in your browser, it redirects to http://www.thehansofoundation.org/

I still think this is likely OOG, but it is interesting.

Oh, and
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Spec on the text of http://www.paik-heavy.com/east_man.htm ?

Could it all have to do with the group that went to blue-1?
Rash? Possibly more Hanso disease outbreak shenanigans.
Open sphere? She was on a phone spree? Could this be Persephone.

Is Persephone a test subject who escaped?

More on http://www.paik-heavy.com/east_man.htm:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you look in the source, you'll see a few phrases have empty comments around them, namely:
  • A group try
  • An oval rash
  • Open sphere
  • Phone spree

"Eastman" is an anagram for namaste, "a group try" is an anagram for purgatory and Gary Troup, "an oval rash" is an anagram for Alvar Hanso, and "open sphere" and "phone spree" both are anagrams for Persephone.

I also still think this is OOG, but am going to keep on following the trails for now.

I also have some clarification for http://www.paik-heavy.com/persephone.htm:

Each of the numbers converts into 4815162342 except for the binary one. I'm guessing a poor algorithm which rounds was used for that one (possibly more evidence for OOG). The only missing number is the one for base10, which instead has the link for http://www.paik-heavy.com/4815162342.htm (and "obey" in the source)

more east_man

Cheers Tiralmo! Most helpful!!

I too will continue to poke around here, it's something I latched on to early on and so its my personal "trailhead".

Are you a better programmer than me and can tell if me the input box at http://www.paik-heavy.com/php/a.php actually sends your info anywhere? I viewed source but I'mnot sure. It definitely doesn't check to make sure you have entered an actual email address.

The "meat" of a PHP file is on the server side, unavailable to the client. There doesn't seem to be anything interesting about a.php except that it submits to b.php, which forwards to c.php.

Just for quick reference, both of these websites have been added to the Out Of Game sites list in the stickied thread.

One of the two blogs linked to here:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://esnips.com/web/namste

the morse code is as follows:

... . -.-. ..- .-. . -.-. --- -- -- -.-. .-. .. - .. -.-. .- .-.. .-.-.-
-- --- .-. . .. -. ..-. --- - --- -- --- .-. .-. --- .-- .-.-.-

SECURE COMM CRITICAL

and the squi-doo one was updated today and leads to a video of gary troup discussing his book release. I'm thinking these are no longer to be filed under OOG.

No. You're missing the point. These are KNOWN to be made by fans of the show, having their own bit of fun. Just because they link to The Lost Experience does not mean the game will link back to them. You are free to play along with them as a separate game. These sites will continue to update with new content because they see players having fun with their little puzzles. Some will be up front about it, with disclaimers in fine print or hidden in source code; others will gladly try to pretend to be official.

Sorry if i sound a bit annoyed. It's not you, it's them for causing this confusion.

The Gary Troup video was discovered 10 days ago. If I put up a site with that link on it, would my site be in-game? No.

An in-game site, for those who aren't aware, is a site that is proven (or, at the very least, highly suspected) to be a part of the game itself. Any other sites, such as guides and trails, discussion forums, and (how do I say this nicely, um...) hoaxy sites looking to trick people or capitalize on a popular name/game are definitely OOG.

And, once again I will say, with no evidence that these sites are part of the game design, I would call them OOG sites.
