[UPDATE] WA forum 6/02

Update on WA forum. Kevin found the gmail account. Actually carlwebb had it in an earlier post on this forum, but I guess it needed to be capitalized. Kevin got a weird message that I have mostly decoded, but have not a clue what it means. Here's the message and what I got.

Quote:
From: "John Smith" To: kevinSPLATstudiocypher.com Subject: I'm not at home right now Re: shelter I'm sorry, but I am on vacation for the next two weeks and will not be able to respond to your email until I return. I'm sorry for this inconvenience, but we all need to get away sometime! yoo kwairee tha kee. leiznuh'a thuh dingseepro drumnuncuh. jehntlitehlin uhzjoovihdihn veindih thiss wurd too kaytnihmyookum wihth mee

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The syllables are spelled phonetically and are reversed. Here's what I make of the message so far:

"You require the key. Analyze the proceeding conundrum. Intelligent individuals divine(?) this word to communicate with me.

The trinity, each is the key: The pilgrim peddler becomes ? ? The yellowish donkey caterpillar masticating, entwining, hibernating, absconding into stratosphere."

? refers to words I don't know or am not sure of.

It's late here and I may be way off... but could the one word you're not sure of be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
scarabaeus?? (pronounced skar-uh-'bE-us) It's Latin and pertains to scarabs.

After looking the word up on dictionary.com, got redirected to 'scarab' and got this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A representation of this beetle, such as a ceramic or stone sculpture or a cut gem, used in ancient Egypt as a talisman and a symbol of the soul. Also called scarabaeus.

and the last unknown word is most likely:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ceasar

as a wild guess we're looking for 3 insects:

Pilgrim Pedlar?
Scarabaeus Sacer - Scarab Beetle
Yellowish Donkey Caterpillar?

...although the phrase only seems to deal with two processes, the Pilgrim Pedlar becoming the Scarab, and the caterpillar metamorphosis.

EDIT: New theory: it looks like we need to replace the words with other ones for example "The travelling salesman becomes dung beetle. The amber mule larvae chewing, twisting, sleeping, flying away into sky"

? maybe with the right phrase it'll make sense.

EDIT 2: could it just be Metamorphosis? here's a quote
Quote:
"Metamorphosis", a novel by Franz Kafka, also makes a strong social statement by portraying the fate of Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman who awakes one morning to find that he has been transformed into a cockroach
.

EDIT 3: Reply from Kevin:
Hey, Tesseract.

That makes a lot of sense! Based on Chuck's notes, we should be able to
get Abri's current email address from that 'key'. I tried just
metamorphosisSPLATgmail.com and got a confused email in response, so I don't
think that's it.

Any ideas?

In Sue's blog the note says to remove the vowels from the key to get Abri's current e-mail address.

also tried mtmrphss and mtmrphss7. no luck.

EDIT: I take that back. mtmrphss worked, here's the reply:
Quote:
It appears to me that the trinity would be Chuck Lehner, John Topher, and Sue Terrini.

I possess many things. I give some of them to you now.

I give you a key. Use it to unlock the final piece of the emergency: NHEJGTOHXFKEJMPNDYZSGDQSE

I give you a message. Please give it to Sue Terrini. Tell her I hope we will meet again. I possess fondness for her. It appeared to me that Charles possessed fondness for her as well.

I believe you are one of those that solved the puzzle I left in the home of the Cyphers. I do not forget the promise I made there. I do not believe the time is optimal. I will deliver the truth but not now. Keep your eyes open. Do not believe all that the Cyphers tell you.

EDIT 2: which lets us break the one time pad giving:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
TAGTHREEMAYKEEPASECRETATG, or Tag three may keep a secret at g.
How does that help us? Doh! Why didn't I think of it!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We enter "threemaykeepasecret" into the emergency page at StudioCypher. It gives us the location of the "ritual's key".

And I quote...

The ritual's key is under a piece of black marble façade to a raised planter on the north side of the old Chicago post office distribution center on Van Buren Street in downtown Chicago.

There are ten planters in front of the old post office building. It is the second planter from the east end. Look for a piece of the façade that is ajar and tilted off-center. The envelop is taped to the bottom of the piece of marble.

End quote.

There is also a map accompanying it. Anybody in Chicago to get this one...sounds like a good one.
