Interesting things for me, which means there is very likely a high trout concentration, but nevertheless, on I press:

1. A.J. Steward, in the second page of production, yields "undefined", and forces a reloading of the file system, password entry and all.
2. Heather Mou has a file I can't recognize: test.pl. Just a piece to check the file system is OK?
3. Hesh has filed that have been red-x'd; this is something I probably just missed from way earlier.

4. Hesh has a memo to Cab Jaffar, specifically stating to look into company party catering, approximately around the time he broke up with Tippy. Could that be our sign to take Option F? (Doubt it, but still...)

5. The June12 in Hazel Coldbone's drawer mentions specifically getting hamburgers from Charlie. Could this be a tip to who we go down Option F as, or progression in general? I see this Charlie as either Charlie Specht (which is unlikely, but possible), or a special butcher/deli owner that Hazel trusts, who might be able to be found all the same. Whatever the case, that may very well be our specific ticket in, being the only definitive lead we have.

Da eind. I be phinnisched. Dunce

EDIT: The red type on #5 was obnoxious; I nixed it.

Stegdetect, it show nothin'. (Also grabbed all the jpgs linked to from the employee list on the wiki and checked them again to be sure - nada...)

Looks like it - this is a one-line Perl file that prints "1". Nothing interesting, I'd say (unless we can somehow *run* perl scripts on the file system Wink

It also mentions going to Ben's. Who is Ben? TBH, I can't imagine Hesh's big exclusive knees-up to have coleslaw, a tray of fruit and veg, and a cake baked by a member of staff. Still, the date is an odd coincidence...

Hum.

Aha!

Wheeee, I'm in! Smile To Stephanie Mou's private files, that is.

There's also a Heather Mou on the employee list, which (as she says in the message boards) is Stephanie's sister. Try "heather" as the password to Stephanie's private files, and you get access to two documents (linked to below):

1. solstice_bash_notes.txt - this contains all the when and where details, along with stuff on budget. "Sat. June 12 7pm @ Below"

2. employee_guests.txt - employee guest list, natch.

My guess is that Caine can pretend to be someone on the guest list that we know won't be there. Didn't Charles Specht get the sack, or am I just making that up?

EDIT: Removed spoiler, and linked the "Below" to its wiki page.

As far as i'm aware, it's only really card hints/solves that tend to need to be spoilered.

The ongoing developements and spec side of PXC is more about getting the info shared so we can progress, though i dare say there may be some that might want to figure it out all by themselves. (So in conclusion the spoilering is probably not needed but up to you Very Happy)

One bit from that I thought would be of interest is:

Quote:
Solstice Party cost covers catering, service, security & drinks, entertainment booked separately
chk Helix on entertainment, new band?

Maybe could get hold of Stephanie somehow and suggest the Ooze as the new band. Although if the Hesh dislike is well known or the decision has to go past him this option is pretty much dead in the water.

The other minor point is Stephanie has the Day wrong, it's Monday the 12th June not Sat. Although i'm sure she is aware of the error and the party will not be booked for tonight instead! Shocked

Anyone researching the new band to see who they are and whether it's possible to get them committed and maybe slide Ooze into the entertainment slot?

Anyway to get hired by Jamie Pikestaff so that we have someone working the event?

Oh, btw, I've e-mailed the info to Caine and Kurt (at the request of the #syzygy channel), but not made any recommendations as to what to do.

Could it be the "GEM" that Stephanie refers to in projects.txt? (They're possibly about to be launched...)

Not sure what to make of the Saturday/Monday mix-up though.

Damn! I should have tried that, but I didnt think I'd find anyone stupid enough to use their sister's first name as a password. Obviously Hesh are really scrapping the barrel in terms of employee intelligence.

<TIAG> MC were really trying to make this easy for us weren't they? I think they made it too easy. A nice solve would have been a name on the cat birthday cake, or the bowl. But maybe that would have been easy too. </TIAG>

So what is the venue then? Conundra? Or is the place called 'Below'? Is the memo badly written or am I just being thick?

<spec> www.conundra.com will go live sometime today or tommorrow. It's already hosted by godaddy. </spec>

<spec> Was it squatted, though? The GoDaddy Contact Email is "bruce_the_larger[AT][SPAMALOT!1]earthlink.net"

That name somewhat rings a bell, but I just started watching stuff not related to the cards again. Someone hand me a trout with a search term? Smile

Looking at Hazel Coldbone's to-do list, it looks like she's planning a bbq for the 12th - so she won't be at the party.

Not sure Caine could pull off the impersonation though...

Well, I tried Haether's PF; "Stephanie" doesn't cut it.
Just thought maybe vice versa and all; shared mind.

But, this appears to be our silver bullet.
Of course, how to get into "Below" is still up for grabs.
But, now that we know where and when, things can begin.

(But then, being underwater might make sneaking in hard.)

Yes he did, from the Internal Board under the topic 'Board shutting down':

Kevin Allbright wrote:

Seems to me as long as they don't give out name badges or have one of Charlie's mates on the door this would be a plausible way of getting Caine into the party? Charlie unwittingly aiding in the hunt for the Cube yet again... almost makes up for us getting him fired!

As well as the Specht approach, I can think of a couple of other plans:

- In Mou's note, it says "Talk to Marco @ PCAG, try to get advance release Clash set". Caine could maybe pull some strings and then turn up to deliver the set?

- The note also says that Jamie Pikestaff, the venue event co-ordinator, "seems nice & really helpful". Caine could contact him on the basis that the Academy are looking to organise a large bash extremely soon, and Below is one of the possible venues. Could he come over to take a look at, say, 6 on Monday? When I've done events, I've found that most venues are quite happy to show potential clients around even if there's something else going on.

None of these three are mutually exclusive, so Caine could try all of them. We need to get cracking, though, and should e-mail Caine by this evening.

Since they've paid extra to have the place to themselves, it seems improbable that he'll be allowed to just look at the venue. I think the Charlie approach has a greater chance of success.

Did anybody actually e-mail Caine yet? If so, what was his response
