I have been working on 269 case study, and with a couple of minor changes agree with what is on the Wiki (I have Fennerman and Pham the other way round and a full stop after basis.)

What I found really annoying was the way the puzzle changed if you came back to it, and I also found a couple of deliberate errors in there.

As with other "errors" there may be another message contained here so the errors I found were:

The word after "If" is "please"
The word before "fellows." is "please"
The word before "an" is "Morgan,"
The word before "of" is "to"

Of course they may also be a complete banana/elephant/bear hat/ <insert this weeks red herring word>

Something tells me the system throws in a few red herrings once in a while; I was doing the 268 White Paper, Pt. 2 and I was going in circles for the last sentence, even though I knew what it was trying to say and could have guessed; ktetch had to push me across the finish line.

Was my work on the wiki, and i have to admit, i didn't follow the punctuation too well for that one (I did for the 67 case study0 me and brat-sampson went through this one together though, after working seperately, and they amtched. As with others, the 'word x is before y' clues were wrong more times than they were right. I know Fennerman and Pham are the right way around though, as I did it on a set of numbered lines, and Pham's position was implicitly given to me.

Also, the puzzle didn't change, just the clues. I think there was something like 350 seperate clues for this one paper. I did collect at least 3 complete pages to give me the most info to work with though.

All in all, I love these puzzles Smile

So where to from here?

I'm struck by the 269 Case Study, which seems relevant to 3P machinations.

There's a lot of people credited to this (10), and the last five are not listed under Faculty & Lecturer Information. With the single exception of Framingham in the 266 Case Study, all other credited academics from case studies and reports are there.

The Wiki links Morgan to the Chief of Police, Eoin Morgan, which is certainly possible. But could there also be some sort of message hidden in them?

I came in late on the #syzygy discussions last night, so apologies if this was mentioned before.

I tried rotting the author initials, but no joy. It would strike me that logic puzzles are to easy for a bunch of nerdy code junkies, and the best place to hide something is in plain sight.

the text from names reads 'KSGFBMCSCFTFTBBCMKMAEIMPFNR'

On Case Study 269, I have:

The first word before "Novak," is "Pham,"

which is different from the Wiki.

Have we gone anywhere with this e-mail wise? Is the ball still in our court or are we awaiting a response from kurt/violet/scarlett/anna/caine? Has anyone contacted the adjunct senior fellows etc?

I emailed the following to Kurt (as he seemed to be the best person to follow up on it), and sent a copy to Caine (as it was his work that lead us to it, so thought it was best to keep him in the loop) on Wenesday night - but only autoresponses:

Quote:
Hey Kurt, after Caine's work in tracking down the number V called the day after the cube was stolen to the academy's cryto department – a group of earth cube hunters decoded the pages on the academy site, leading us to the password protected 'epsilon' pages: http://crypto.perplexcityacademy.com/alberti.php Once we had decrypted these we had a summery of various reports and cases from the department over the past few years. The most relevant one being this:

266 Case Study
An analysis of the Academy security system, strengths and vulnerabilities, action points. Kiteway, Scryer, Gatlin, Framingham. Access to this study is determined on an as-needed basis. If you are require access to this study to further your research, please speak to the department head or one of the adjunct senior fellows

We were wondering (a) if you have any idea who Framingham (a co-author of said report) is, as we can't find any other reference to him

(B) if you could possibly gain access this document, as we think this will hold the key to how the 2 groups after the cube gained entry into the academy on the night of the ball.

And (C) following on from (B) is there any sort of 'log' from which we can determine who has accessed this case study, which will hopefully bring us one step closer to finding out more about the third power/ the cube thieves.

I have also send a copy of this e-mail to Caine as it was his work which lead us to this.

Yours, _izzy_ , earth cube hunter

No wonder we haven't heard from Kurt for a while, he's probably still got a headache from reading that letter.
