The cuts reminded me of something else (Lost Season 2 spoiler from Orientation)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The previous time the Hanso website was up, they used it as a way to distribute the orientation film for the Swan Hatch. It was the same as the TV show. However, since it was the same as the TV show, there were awkward moments where the film was not seen, only heard, since the audience was looking at Locke and Jack. To cover for this, the film had extreme closeups of Marvin Candle's face (which were theorized to be taken from other shots of Candle through the same film.

This footage has similar extreme closeups as that film. There are three reasons I can think of for the similarity:

1.This footage may actually appear in some modified form in season 3
2.It is being manipulated to show that Hanso may have altered it in some form, similar to the orientation film.
3.It's just an effect that the director of the short decided to use, possibly taking inspiration from the orientation film, but is not supposed to show a link of any sort.

On a non-spoilerish vein, can anyone make out what is said on the phone before the phone company tones kick in?

To continue discussion of Lupus' spoiler spec...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The only problem with it appearing in season 3, barring any 2-year jumps a la Alias, is that the show is still set in 2004. That's one of the tough things to consider when playing the game tying into the show.

Everything that we're getting into iwth the ARG is happening nearly two years following the crash of 815, and a year and a half after the events of the season finale.

Are we still trying to conect the clues in the game to the show? I thought that it was made pretty clear in the Jimmy Kimmal interview that LOST is just a tv show. That the writers of LOST used Hanso and DARMA names when makeing things up for the TV show.

In otherwords. LOST is just TV and wont hold any clues for us because it is not real. Its a huge red herring.

Untill I see clear cut evidence that they are reffrenceing the tv show as real (and fuzzy pics of a person in a lab coat does not count), with real events that tie into the people and events on the show, we should all treat it as OOG it is just a distraction.

It's as in-game as Bad Twin is, but I see your point.

I will eat my hat if
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Marvin Candle
isn't a real person in the ARG. We've already been SHOWN the man at least three times in various hacks.

This leads me to believe
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
that the orientation videos -- both of them -- exist in the ARG as actual videos from the DHARMA Initiative.

Also, don't forget that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the Blast Door Map holds several phrases that have been used in solving P's clues.

So yesterday when I was looking around for Rachel Blake's blog, I tried all sorts of things but one really stood out as a possibility:
www.rachelblake.com
It give you a UN/PW box when you put in the url. I wasn't sure if that was relevant until today when I read over at 4815162342.com that you can enter:
anything.rachelblake.com
an it will send you to THF.org. So, FYI, this is probably where our next update will be. Now we just have to find the UN/PW.

I'm skeptical, personally, that anything Hugh McIntyre said during the interview is necessarily true, especially when spoken to back the credibility of Hanso. I think we've been given plenty of evidence that Hanso's credibility is pretty low right now. Plus, the show creators (if Lost were, in the game universe, just using source material about Hanso) would have had to hear about DHARMA from somewhere - it's not something that Hanso advertises, but rather one that Persephone and DJ Dan unveiled for us.

But, for sake of argument, let's take the concept that this is just a show that just happens to be using names from Hanso. That brings up the possiblity of a modified version of theory 3 that I mentioned in the spoiler box above:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3a.The person doing the filming decided to mimic the IG directorial approach of the Marvin Candle film in Lost, either as homage or because they're the same person. This would imply, at that point, that the Candle film was made by the producers of Lost, versus the actual DHARMA initiative. And, since the film was released in the first game associated with Lost, the filmer of the movie may have been involved in that ARG. My head's beginning to hurt, and I'm pretty sure that's overcomplicating things - an ARG with an ARG inside it.

And, FWIW, my money's on option 2, of the ones I've listed.

Season 2 spoilers, right up to the last episode:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You're absolutely right, and I neglected to take that into consideration. And, given how season two ended, I'd be shocked if there were a wait of two years. I'm sure Jack, Sawyer, and Kate would like to have some movement on their plot, and Locke and Eko would like to know if, they're, y'know, ALIVE.

Unless, of course, they just jumped in time to 2006 due to the events of the last episode. But I doubt that. So that would seem to eliminate option 1 out of the ones I listed.
[/spoiler]

I will add this URL to our list of in-game websites. Validation for this is a bit meta and curtain-spoilery:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This is because the IP address for http://www.rachelblake.com/ is 64.207.133.244 -- exactly the same as for www.thehansofoundation.org and http://www.djdan.am/ which says they are hosted on the same server.
On second thought, I may delay, because this may just be a case of them reserving the domain name to protect it from fans who might try to build an ARGjacking fake website. When the site becomes live, then it will be in-game. I seriously doubt that the login box is meant for us at this time. Please do not try to brute-force your way into their server.

I don't think that a timeline jump is *entirely* out of the question. Slow going though it is, the ARG may very well be an over-the-summer introduction to series three.

This is all baseless speculation, but there's no reason the ARG can't tell us lots about Hanso and DHARMA's origins, leading to Season 3's first episode being a jump to 2006 with a clip-show episode showing what the hell has gone on in the time since then.

I think the video is In-Game. Maybe Rachel Blake is Persephone or maybe not.

I have a question, though. I tried to send a link to this video to myself and happened to have extended headers turned on in my email because of previous phishing attemps. I found the following in my extended header:

Thread-Topic: Rachel Blake [3:45]
thread-index: AcaSRgNvIhwNqqfBTqOpAVjtkeXVUQ==

The terms "Thread Topic" and "thread index" don't appear in the extended headers of my other emails. Does anyone know what this means? Could the string of letters following "thread-index" be another anagram code?

I noticed too that at the beginning of the video, a title seems to appear briefly at the bottom saying "opening minds"

I tried sending myself a link to the video again and the letters + now numbers following "thread-index" changed, so I assume it's not a clue. I think it's interesting though that the link I received does not take me to the Rachel Blake video, but rather to the career advice from celebrities page. Is the Rachel Blake video not supposed to be In-Game just yet?

Curious,

Wierd stuff. I thought the string might be base64, but it's not. There are so many letters I can't imagine figuring out any kind of anagram from this. Or at least not without limiting the letters (perhaps all the lowercase letters or something). Of the 30 letters, only d,l,m,y and z are missing from the alphabet, and q and a are repeated several times.

Here's an email I got from monster.com (OOG):

Seems as though that's just the way they encode their emails...

Namaste.
