 		Mission Impossible 3
I was just scanning the internet, and I came across this for the new MI3 movie. The webpage is at http://www.missionimpossible.com. It is about some sort of global hunt game that is accompanying the movie, including "the internet and beyond". Here is a text of what the page says to give ya a heads up:

Sign-up today to join the Impossible Mission Force and become an IMF Agent. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take part in The Ultimate Mission- M:i:III Global Hunt, which begins February 6, 2006. This multimedia scavenger hunt will challenge your skills locating and deciphering clues all over the internet and beyond.

The Hunt is going to take place over the course of 8 weeks. The more clues you decipher, the more IMF Agent Points you'll rack up which could win you the great prizes including a trip to the Premiere, Hats, T-Shirts, DVD's and more! There will also be random prizing sweepstakes, and bonus prizing rounds.

Sign up now to get early registration points, and all the updates about this very important mission.

 		hmm I would say this goes to Timewasters. From the way it describes itself this is a puzzle trail/scavanger hunt, not an ARG.

 		While messing around in the chat, I've noticed that many "odd" words are replaced with asterisks (banned from use in chats). Try typing the following into the chat.

Quote:
Hubbard (as in L. Ron)
Scientology
Henhouse (Why? I dunno)


My, why ever would they do that? Razz It's almost like they don't want people gossiping about someones religious beliefs. How odd. Razz

On that note, you would think they'd ban words like Xenu, thetons, et cetra as well. But apparently we can badmouth Xenu as much as we want.

Also of note is that this is probably the worst scheme for a chat ever created. Where the "username" is in regular chats, are a series of numbers. So, for everyone who wants to memorize numbers to remember whose-who, more power to you.

 		I signed up too. There was a similar thing before MI2, but points were earned from playing games online. I only played once or twice, and ended up with a mousepad. So hey, its worth a try.

If you read the rules, it notes that the first 15,000 people to complete all the clues win some sort of prize (value $20).

Not bad odds, really.

I think it's better off for mankind that Tom Cruise not spread his genes around, or we may be in trouble

Oh damn. Why do they do such things? And why do they allow to choose a different country than the US within the sign-up procedure when they only want to have residents from the states logged in? Finally, if I can take part without being able to win something, I'm fine with that. Neutral
