Chapter VII:

The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on hearing this; but all he said was, `Why is a raven like a writing-desk?'

`Come, we shall have some fun now!' thought Alice. `I'm glad they've begun asking riddles.--I believe I can guess that,' she added aloud.

Googling for the answer:
Martin Gardner's The Annotated Alice and More Annotated Alice listed:
"Because the notes for which they are noted are not noted for being musical notes"

I wanted to expand on what ehsan said. I actually am fortunate to have the annotated Alice theDefinitive Edition. Originally this riddle did not have an answer when it was first printed.
The footnotes state
"the Mad Hatters riddle was given an answer by Carroll in an 1896 printing in the preface..
"Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat: and it is nevar put with the wrong end in front"
(of course nevar being raven spelt backwards)
Sam Loydthe American Puzzle genius was the actual author of the first quote from the internet in his 1914 Encyclopedia of puzzles

Following on from the newly discovered URLs, they seem to redirect...

Redirects to: http://www.mirlandano.com/noroom/

Both pages have the title:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
no room! no room!

but there is nothing on the page, nor in the code that would point anywhere else - maybe the clue is in the URL, title or image??

Confused

Looks like more dead ends? I don't really see anything in the tweedles, marchhare, or hatter pages.. the pictures are straight from the text and the pages really don't look like puzzles.. assuming they don't lead anywhere, we still have the playing cards.. ooh I would have loved a hint for the playing cards jpg's.. other than that the crossroad page might lead to other pages? but again, nothing resembling a puzzle to be found.. hmm..

Well, we have no room, we've heard the riddle. We haven't talked about the March Hare (altho we have his pic) or treacle, or stuffed the sleeping dormouse in the teapot yet. The next chapter is the croquet game with the Red Queen. Card servants painting white roses red on the bushes; flamingo mallets and hedgehog balls. Off with their heads! And we meet the white rabbit (again).

PS I just realized the Unbirthday thing (mentioned much earlier in this thread) is from the Disney animated movie, and not from the book. /me pouts. So that's probably not the purpose of this trail, which is adhering closely to the book.

That's what I get for memorizing the album when I was a kid. "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date. No time to say hello goodbye I'm late I'm late I'm late. I'm late and when I wave I lose the time I save. My fuzzy ears and whiskers took me too much time to shave. I run and then I hop hop hop. I wish that I could fly. There's danger if I dare to stop and here's the reason why. You see I'm overdue, I'm in a rabbit stew. Can't even say goodbye hello. I'm late I'm late I'm late.

I disagree

To quote chapter 7 "A Mad Tea Party"

The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: `No room! No room!' they cried out when they saw Alice coming. `There's plenty of room!' said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table.

Twinkle images...

I wasn't very clear, the first group of images (Walrus/Carpenter) is the same, but what you get when you click on them is new.

to y2kbozo, flip back a few pages to July 7th to find the above post. I'm glad you've discovered it on your own -- that's sometimes the only FUN part before the hard work kicks in -- I was just pointing out that a few of us saw these "new" updates a week ago. We're stuck now, so you still have time to catch up and zoom past us. Maybe THIS weekend we'll make more progress.

'ello, 'ello.
Posting for two reasons:
1) just to bump the thread to revive interest,
but more importantly,
2) wondering if someone could please explain the solution to the horoj.jpg image?

As far as this thread goes, horoj and loco were never solved.. I don't know if someone or a group solved them and is progressing without telling us, but that might explain why we didn't get anymore hints even though this thread has been dead for a while..
