Wooo! Absolutely awesome work!

I don't know what impresses me more - the fact that y'all solved this mess, or the fact the imbri got it all set up in the first place. Very Happy

Anyway, UNbirthday huh...??? How old is Unfiction ??

unfiction was born on May 13th 2002, anyway this isn't related to UNfiction.

In the Disney movie, the unbirthday discussion occurs during the Mad Tea Party. In the book, though, it's a conversation with Humpty Dumpty.

Humpty informs Alice that the cravat he is wearing was an unbirthday gift from the White King and the White Queen. Alice says she prefers birthday presents, and Humpty rebuts this with the argument that you can get unbirthday presents 364 days a year, birthday presents, only one.

Happy unbirthday to everyone!

http://www.mirlandano.com/up/above/the/world/you/fly/like/a/teatray/in/the/sky/twinkle/twinkle.html has been updated with flying hats!

Each hat is a MAILTO link, if you can click them fast enough, or if you have a cool web browser. The seven mailto's already have subject and body filled in. They are:

Address: aliceSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: TRUST ME
Body: Miss Alice, You are in great danger. The Hatter has sworn to prove that you are quite insane. Please, make sure that you are safe and have some wine. It will calm your nerves. Let me know where you are and I will see what I can do to help.

Address: cheshire_catSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: Little Miss Alice
Body: Alice has gone missing. I know that you two are quite fond of each other, though she refuses to admit that she's gone mad. Rather deep in denial if you ask me. Perhaps you could chat with her about it and please let her know that I am looking for her.

Address: caterpillarSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: how are you
Body: I felt that I should let you know that the contemptible little girl, Alice, has decided upon herself that not only is three inches a wretched height to be but that mirlandano.com should be hers and hers alone. If you happen to see her, won't you let me know. Then, and only then, will we be able to put an end to this nonsense.

Address: mad_hatterSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: absolute madness
Body:

Address: regoSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: I thought you should know
Body: It's really a shame that she feels this way. The hatter can help you. http://www.mirlandano.com/queen/king.jpg

Address: reginoSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: I thought that you should know
Body: Look what's been found. The crazy little girl has such lofty goals. Please, watch yourself. A lady in your position can never know who to trust. http://www.mirlandano.com/alice/queen.jpg

Address: tweedlesSPLATmirlandano.com
Subject: have you seen alice
Body: I can't imagine that she'd be with either of you after the way you acted. Really, it is quite the shame that one of you pulled her aside and admitted that she was real and that the other was just a bit touched, if you know what I mean. The two of you should stand together and not speak ill of the other. A shame, really. In any event, if you should happen to see her, have her contact me immediately.

Five of the seven have autoresponders. I'll post the responses in the next thread, this one's already really long.

Alice, the cat, the caterpillar, and the king and queen all have autoresponders set up. Here's what i got from them:

alice wrote:
As I said before, I?ll never go there again!  To think that you have not learned a thing after all this time.  Really now, still offering wine as if I wouldn?t know.  You can tell your friend, the Hatter, that he is quite mad and I think the same of you.

Alice

Thank you.

Mad Hatter and Tweedles don't have autoresponders set up, it appears.

Each of the hats will redirect to a small portion of an illustration from Alice (where the Walrus is talking to the crying man about the oysters).
Put each page in order to recreate the picture:
x xx xxx
y yy yyy
z
And the html names spell out: i am not a mad hatter.

The next page from each of the Oyster illustration squares was a little more off the wall.

Following this same order:
aut (colorful drawing of a sombrero & guitar) - from caterpillar
lso (horned sheep) - came from cat
itp (colorful whips) - came from tweedle
lbp (purple wildflowers) - cam from hatter
eee (ostriches) - came from queen
msd (angel wings) - came from king

Reading downward: alile must be stopped (thanks catherwood)

Perhaps this is an unbirthday trail for the rest of us who haven't had the pleasure of personalized birthday trails? (In which case why is poor sap doing so much of the work again Confused after his tortuous trail.)

Amazing job, guys. I couldn't have done it - I'm having great trouble manipulating the hat pics to even reproduce what you found (they keep turning themselves into shortcuts or locking up), and I seem to have sent some mail from my office email to alice and others. yikes.

Where to next?

Two new pages...

in the source for TER.HTML (the odd "z" window) is:

meta content="/sea/" name="oysters"

which leads us to:

http://www.mirlandano.com/sea/

http://www.mirlandano.com/sea/oysters/

and...?

Edited to add:
Just to note, the poem is the first two verses of "The Walrus and the Carpenter" from chapter 4 ("Tweedledum and Tweedledee") of "Through the Looking Glass". The words "sea" and "oysters" do not appear together.
And...what the ?#$% is the picture on the next page???

The picture does not enlarge well - looks like a glass sculpture of something. Following up on our theme, I'd be looking for a mock turtle doing the lobster quadrille, or the gryphon, or a jabberwock.

At least we know Lladro does not work in glass.

/me assumes Ozy was not referring to her avatar's lovely large feet.

Yippee! I'm doing an unbirthday trail. Sap did a ton of work (thank you) but many of us are doing the work ourselves as well (i.e. I started my own little text document of all the findings from /twinkle.html once I was able to "capture" those bouncing hats).

I'm still learning it seems. I saw this, made a note (but didn't post my trail since Danny did his version), then didn't followup. Thanks y2k.

there is something after the glass sculpture

what do you get from a sea/oyster?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Whee! You found the pearl and just in time for tea.

I'm sorry to say that I must run, but I must. You see, it's 6 o'clock somewhere and somewhere works for me.

Don't forget that I know what your up to. Or is it down? Up or down? Up or down? Oh, the world can be so confusing when your mad. Perhaps you'll join me tomorrow in time for tea?

these games keep changing on me, or else i just don't know all the tricks yet. And here i've been trying urls with variations on /alice/must/be/stopped/.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I know what your up to.... so confusing when your mad.

pet peeve: when you want the sentence to say "you are such and such", you abbreviate the combo as "you're". "Your" is possesive.
