I don't think Castaway Cay looks anything like the island.
It's a good point though, CC would make a good location for it, and make it easy for Disney to control (and be cheaper for them).
I agree with those that say it will make it all the way around the world. We've got just about the right amount of time to make it around the southern tip of South America and back up to.... wait for it....
THE CARIBBEAN!!!!!
Hello? Honestly, I hate to do it, but a dope slap for anyone not making the connection.

Wisdom!!!!!
That island now has a man made ship garage and the shape of course is rather different.
I have a much better idea for the location that fits (but not the shape)

don't want to sound daft but how do you "google it"?
I even downloaded "google Earth" and it says "no results"
I have tried to google all the coords, and can't figure out how. Any help would be great thank you!

Isle de Muerte Isle de Muerte... If this hunt has anything to do with the movie, this will be the final location for at least the online portion of this game.

how could it be anything but an island in the carribean, we are half way thru the quest (puzzle number 7 is it?) and we'll prolly go up the coast of South America, then into The Virgin islands, etc.
*edit* if you look up cape horn on wikipedia, it shows some sailing routes. it would make perfect sense to sail up the Strait of Magellan.
Castaway Cay would be convient, but it is a commericial tourist island, so i doubt they would just plop it right there when people could be looking (its not that big of an island)

That island of the dead sounds like a 'dead' giveaway. Keep the ideas coming as I am a little puzzled by this mystery location!

i do like the idea and the location, but the islands arent the same, mainly look at the south cape peninsula.
However i just realized this, if you look at the Hunt Map, the North Cape isnt perfectly center, same with the South Cape, so the map is skewed a little, like the island in the coordinates you gave.

South Africans are ineligible for the contest. . .
perhaps there is a reason?

Final location I think it might be Rum Cay or Jamacia.
Jamacia has the Blue mountians and Crow mountian.
Maps of old don't look anything like the current features of today.
Just a shot in the dark

Final location __55n771__
If these extra clues are indeed coordinates to the final location let me help a bit, the last letter will be an E or a W.
My opinion is that it will be a W as that will put the final location in the Atlantic.
If you go to maps.google you can try all the different coordinates and you will see that the W works better for possibilities.
Try 17°55'n77°16'w

Perhaps Disney owns South Africa?
or perhaps it's just as simple as South Africa gets advertisments meant for the UK and they want to keep the contest(s) to the US and the UK and South Africans being ineligable is just a clarification of such, it probably states elsewhere exactly who IS eligable.

I disagree. If you read the Wikipedia entry about Castaway Cay, assuming it's accurate then only 55 of 1000 acres of the island have been developed. That leaves a LOT of (controlled) available space to hide a car.
Unlike other Caribbean islands, Disney own and control Castaway Cay outright. As for the map, I wouldn't think it has to be identical in features and dimensions to a real island - but it's close enough to Castaway Cay to look very similar. Even the spit in the SW where they presumably land the cruise ships is on the map (if you rotate the image of CC on Google Earth)
So it looks roughly right.
The promotional movie is made by Disney.
Disney own the island.
There's 950 acres of controlled undeveloped space to hide a car.
When the final takes place, it's not somewhere public where other people can interfere.
And finally - in the meantime, nobody can accidentally find the car (the advert says "find it... and it's yours") when you own the island it's burried on.
I don't think it's stupid at all for Disney to hide the car on their own island. I think it would make very good sense, and that should be the first place they should put it.
Oh - and it's near enough to the USA where I guess the car originates. It's LHD, there's 3 finalists from the USA - they expect it'll end up back there I suppose. It's got a thirsty petrol V8, and where better to run one?
Do I sound cynical?
